10 x 16 Enduro on the Fastraxxx LTD
The good news is no one died. Sadly, the same can’t be said for a few chassis that will never regain life and relegated to the box-o-bent up junk we all have. A few are on life support in the emergency room to see if there is hope or we have to pull the cord.
Before 8 AM a few were already there when I had just turned on the lights then it was a flood of people everywhere.
Handed out parts about 8:15 & there was activity everywhere. Most of the lanes were filled up and the other teammate was working on getting the car ready. Some new faces Ralph Spithaler came in from PA to partner Bob Kurkowski. OCC regular Dave Decoster and Big Steve from Big Steve’s Performance parts was there from Michigan. Some of the Ohio Challenge Cup guys came in for some practice before the upcoming April OCC race.
The Ford Mark IV bodies looked cool. .010 bodies hold up well in an enduro. I thought they were going to be slower than they really were. They did loosen the car up some and make you drive it more.
A little after 10 AM most everyone was ready. Teched the cars & lined them up. I had already entered teams. One driver’s team made was not able to make it so Mike Lear ended up with a 9-man team. He ran half the lanes and someone from another team ran the other half at random as they were available. Let’s just say Mike builds a very good car!
We ran 10-minute lanes had a 45-minute lunch then had 15 minutes to work on the cars…….. some were really in need of work. Mine needed a hammer and anvil.
At the half way point it was
- Mike Lear / ? 826.06
- Bob Kurkowski / Ralph Spithaler 800.11
- Jeff, Jeffery Henes 763.10
- Dave Decoster / Steve Cassidy 740.04
- Ron Vincek / Joe Gerenscer 721.12
- Dan, Pops Meyer 693.27
- Rob Voska / John Notstein 689.03
- Brian, Jesse Lear 660.26
High lap totals first half.
Rob Voska & John Notstein; Red 99.13
Mike Lear & team ; White 101.22, Green 105.24, Yellow 107.24, Purple 106.10
Bob Kurkowski & Ralph Spithaler ; Blue 104.29, Black 112.26
Dave Decoster & Big Steve ; Orange 105.01
The second half was a restart and ended like this.
- Mike Lear / 8 other drivers 1656.32
- Bob Kurkowski / Ralph Spithaler 1605.32
- Jeff, Jeffery Henes 1536.02
- Dave Decoster / Steve Cassidy 1513.26
- Rob Voska / John Notstein 1438
- Dan, Pops Meyer 1387.30
- Ron Vincek / Joe Hollywood Gerenscer 1274.11
- Brian, Jesse Lear 699.26
High lap totals second half.
Mike Lear & team ; Red 104.11, White105.21, Green 110.18, Yellow 111.03, Purple 108.31
Bob Kurkowski & Ralph Spithaler ; Orange 108.32, Blue 110.13
Dave Decoster & Big Steve ; Black 100.28 just beating out Jeff & Jeffery Henes 100.23
While some equipment was destroyed some had really good races. We were done a little after 3 PM leaving people time to get home and still have a few hours to themselves. Ron Vincek and Joe Gerenscer won the Big Steve’s body armor package for the most torn up body. We randomly drew a few names out of a hat and paid back some Fastraxxx buxxx that everyone was entered in.
Overall, it was fun to run a few enduros over the season. Everyone seems to have a good time. The different vintage bodies not only looked cool they took some of the advantage away from the locals. Running longer lane times not only maximizes track time with enough marshals and few track calls it lets you really get into a rhythm and think about running the lane and the best way to run the lane.
The enduros went over well and was a success and there is already talk of running 3 enduros next season with some twists and turns thrown in besides a different body. The handout tires from Mid America worked well. The Eagle motors seemed consistent. I think open gearing helped that. No one got a missile and no one got a rock. While we handed out two motor’s I don’t think anyone changed motors at the mid-point.
We are still racing regular classes March 18, April 1st and the OCC race April 22nd.
There is also talk of having some practice days over the summer for those wanting some track time before the ISRA Worlds in Atlantic City in late October.
A sincere THANK YOU to all that came and made it a great day of racing. People are what make it fun and make it an event.

WOW a whole season has passed with only the Ohio Challenge Cup race 22 April 2023 left. It’s been a slow-motion blur from my point of view. After the last enduro things slowed down then the computer died & I got on the horn & my top secret IT support guy gave me some good advice on replacements so I secured a matched pair of computers that seem to do the job just fine. I loaded on the updated Lapmaster software with ghosts. It’s so easy even I can figure it out. We wanted 1 marshal and the computer did the rest.
We had 8 for the JK Wide Body Indy cars. The track did not have much running as we were getting it ready for the upcoming OCC race. It took a little bit of setup change but it’s back to being rubbered up so it will be great for next weekend. I was racing & so I’m not sure of all the goings on but I was finally able to race instead of looking at power supplies or worrying about this or that. Got lucky & beat Mike by half a lap.
JK Wide Body Indy results.
Rob V 234.27
Mike L. 234.15
Bob K 232.33
Brian L 227.07
John N. 211.11
Al R 210.03
Ben L 202.04
Jesse L 183.33
Then we ran the A Pro Lite. Let’s just say this class has been everything we had hoped it would be. Motors run well, we allow open gearing most everyone runs within 2 teeth, everyone runs the same body & chassis & the cars are fast and fun. Mike just ran away with it.
A Pro Lite results
Mike L 266.02
Rob V 256.24
Brian L 241.17
Bob K 238.25
Al R 238.08
John N 229.11
Afterwards we had a pizza lunch & some hung around afterwards to run some laps.
I sincerely thank everyone that helped in many different ways and supported their club over the course of the season & look forward to next year already.
Next race and last race of this season is 22 April 2023 for the Ohio Challenge Cup Race. Doors open at 8 AM Saturday. There will be practice on Friday 21 April 2023 from 4PM to 9 PM.

Fastraxxx Slot Car Club Season 1
These are my thoughts after the first year being open as a club. We learnt a lot, made a few mistakes, had reasonable turnouts and overall had a good season.
What started out as an idea turned into reality when a track became available in early 2022. We secured the location & Dave Simerka and myself decided to take the plunge. We bought the LTD track from Mike Mazer that was set up at Mid America. It was an early 90’s Boogie design called an LTD and fairly flat. The track came with no computer or power supply. We got lucky as Fastraxxx in Fremont was closing. Chris Earnhart helped out a ton with leftovers from the old track.
Once Chris sold his American Royal track we got started setting up the track in early August. Getting the wall taken out, getting enough people to help assemble the track, cleaning, then the entire track was rewired. It was my first time wiring a track. We needed to secure a power supply, computer & timing system. We had the track set up with 2 power supplies. A 90 amp Bulldog and a variable power supply. We had a neat switch system to be able to run one at 12.2V and one at 13.6V. After getting everything up and going we ended up taking off the 13.6V power supply as 12.2V is plenty. With the Lap Master timing system and relay boards the wiring was straight forward but I will tell you getting under the track about a million times wears your shoulder blades raw.
After the track was set up we releveled it a couple of times to get it where we wanted it. There are still a few minor issues we want to sort out but no one is complaining it’s just when you spend that much time on something you want it to be the best it can be.
So finally we ordered a few parts and got things headed in the right direction. As we were setting up the track Dave started not feeling well. Turns out he had a health issue that is now thankfully behind him.
So the doors are open. We have practice on Fridays before bigger races and by request. We race the first and third Saturday of the month. We decided on 2 classes to start. We run stock JK Wide Body Indy cars and A Production Lite. Both classes are stable and seemed to go over well. They both drive a little different. You can see the rules earlier in this thread.
Overall we had good turnouts. Sure another couple of guys would be great but we have enough racers and only need a couple of marshals. The Lear gang found the handle early but towards the end of the season they were getting caught up to and even beat. We sold memberships and some bought them. Others must have not wanted to be known because the change jar from the pop & water often had more in there than it should have been. Thank You!
Mistakes made was trying to use older computers. Had 2 gone through and wish I had listened to my IT guy. When the best one failed the second was not so great so the money I put into them would have been better off spent buying new or refurbished.
Lap Master was a great purchase and no complaints. He also made us relay boards & it made wiring easy enough that I could figure it out.
We scavenged as much as we could but we have a nice raceway with good lighting, tables & enough parts to keep guys running. Started out with just a few things but as stuff sold the next order would have a few things added to it. Running only 1 body for each class helped a LOT! We run special bodies for the enduro's but I only order enough to cover the teams and 1 extra.
Thanks to all for the support over the season & help setting up the track. It’s a club and we want to keep it that way for all to enjoy. Looking forward to next season and looks like we have a few new racers that plan on running with us.
Stay tuned for some upcoming updates and summer action!
Thanks

HI Rob,
Just wondering if you have a tentative schedule for the upcoming season and if there are going to be any rule changes.
Thanks,

We have been busy working on the track most of the summer. It had settled into the carpet and needed a few things tweaked. We are running the same classes with no changes. We are running the same schedule, first and third Saturday mornings. We will open (WOW this has really snuck up on me) October 7th. We will NOT race October 21st because 4 of us will be at the ISRA race. We also plan on having 3 Enduro races over the season. We have a BRS Retro race November 11th 2023 and an OCC race January 6th 2024.

As pointed out in the race announcement thread...... I screwed up.
You never posted what the class the cars will be!
Great point! Sorry. We run 2 classes of cars at Fastraxxx along with visiting series races. JK Wide Body Indy cars & A Production Lite. Below is the rules for the enduro this time with the regular stock body. Next two enduros we are running the same car with different bodies. The other two bodies we picked are the JK Shadow body for one of the races and the new re-pulled Parma Ferrari 330 coupe body off the original Parma mold for the next 2 enduros.
It's impossible to schedule around all the races. We run on the first and third Saturday of the month unless noted. Visiting series run whenever they want. Doors open at 8 AM and we are usually finished by 12:30-1 PM.
Class: A Production Lite; Chassis JK C43 Aeolos standard thickness, steel pan only, Mid America Audi DTM body #963 .007 Audi, .040 / 1mm front bumper vertical height, Rear wing 1.575” / 40mm max height from a recessed tech block, rear bumper trimmed below the tail lights.
