TRACK; LTD

 

Fremont, Ohio

 

We raced on the LTD & so far so good. The classes seem to be working out well and I looked at the screen during a track call in A Pro Lite and the times were 4.91, 4.92, 4.93, 4.91 so everyone is running pretty close.

I would like to thank everyone for coming out.  It was cold and windy but the heaters are working well.  The classes are working like we intended.  Fun, stable and affordable.  Race by race things are coming together.  We open at 8 & started racing just after 10 & were done by a little past noon.  A few more people getting equipment ready & coming out to practice.  It’s a club and I thank everyone for the support they have shown and help to other racers.

 

After the races we hung around for a while & did some testing, ran some faster cars (thanks for bringing the 32 ES Mike!) and had a kids crash & burn race where everyone had a great time. Then we ended up at Frickers for a late lunch.

 

We are also working on the three-hour Boogie team enduro January 21, 2023. See other posts for info on the enduro.  We already have five teams signed up so get your spot saved.

I've been asked to open for a practice day on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Seems some want to end the year running slot cars. It will be an open practice test and tune from 8-1.

 

We will be racing the following Saturday, January 7, 2023.

 

We also have the upcoming Three-hour Boogie enduro Saturday, January 21, 2023. Still room for a couple of teams.

Had a practice yesterday and had a few people getting ready for the Three-hour Boogie enduro. Information above. 

 

Talk about a cool looking car! They handled great just a pinch slower than the DTM body.

 

Still room for a couple of teams and have one person looking for a team partner.  end me a PM if interested.

 

Next race is Saturday, January 7, 2023. Doors open at 8 AM. Classes are JK WIde body Indy cars and A Production lite.

Fastraxxx Slot Car Club

We had a few guests show up so we ran a fun 1/32 race for them.  We just put out some loaner cars with whatever we could scrape together.  Nothing matched.  Body’s, motors, gears, nothing.  They had a great time!  We marshalled for them and they marshalled for us.  They said they will be back.

 

Then we ran our Wide Body Indy class with 7 entries.  A few of our regulars did not make it so it seems be gaining steam.  We had a couple of people with problems fall out but we still had some good racing.  Rob Voska got lucky & stayed out of trouble to take the win over Bob Kurkowski who was no more than 2 laps back at any given point until the last half of the last lane where he ran into traffic problems.

FASTRAXXX Slot Car Club is holding a 3 hour Boogie Enduro

 

WHEN; Saturday January 21st, 2023

Track open Friday January 20th from 4-9PM for practice.

 

WHERE; Fastraxxx Slot Car Club, 2201 Commerce Drive, Fremont, OH 43420. Track is 3 miles from the Ohio Turnpike Exit 91. Motels and food are nearby.

 

TRACK; 135’ LTD 

 

HANDOUT PARTS; 2 Mid America #605 Eagle motor.  2 pair of tires.  Extra motors will be available.

 

ENTRY FEE; $60 per teams covers race day track time, 2 motors and 2 pair of tires.  

 

RACE;  Two 1 1/2 hour rounds with 11 1/2 minute lanes.  90 second lane changes.  All work on cars done under green except between rounds where 15 minutes will be given after lunch break. 

 

SCHEDULE; Friday January 20th track open from 4-9 PM.

Saturday January 21st doors open at 8 AM.  Parts handed out by 8:30 AM.

Practice ends at 10:30 AM.

Tech opens at 10:30 AM.

Race starts at 11:00 AM.

Lunch after first segment 45 minute.

15 minutes to work on car.

Second leg starts about 1:45 PM.

Should be done around 3:45.

3 Hour Boogie on the Fastraxxx LTD

Doors opened at 8 am and one snuck in early but most were there shortly after.  The Eagle motors and tires were handed out at 8:30.  By 10:00 everyone was ready to race so we started about a half an hour early.  Many of the teams had little to no track time on the track until the morning of the event. 

 

The lotus 40 bodies were about .3 tenths slower than the DTM body we normally run on that car.  The sweeper was not full punch even though some tried but what the cars lacked in downforce they made up in low center of gravity & the cool factor.  They just plain looked neat going around the track! 

 

One team had a driver that was not feeling well and we had one no show.  On short notice we had the race director fill in and after some coaching from his team mate or threats I’m not sure ran the second half pretty well & it all worked out in the end. It’s so nice running with a full track and marshals so we have very few track calls & it was easy to get into a rhythm and the day go much faster. 

 

We had a special guest show up just before the lunch break the co-owner of the track Dave “Shadow” Smierka that has been sidelined with some health issues and he ran a few lanes for 2 teams.  Like there was any way to stop him.  First time he has been able to race on his own personal track that he has wanted for over 50 years! Cuz yea….. he’s old!

 

We ran the first half took a 45 minute lunch, had 15 minutes to work on cars & restarted about 1:30.  The race was over just after 3PM so we tallied up the results & this is how it all came out.

Brian Lear's Red Lotus. Cars before the race. Some didn't look quite as good after the race and at least one going in the scrap heap. Nice to have a full raceway. Co-owner in clean sweat pants and shoes. Dave Simerka finally enjoying some laps on his personal test track.    

 

It was nice seeing some old friendly faces with some great racing.

Like to thank everyone for coming out for the 3 hour boogie.  Looked like everyone had a good time.  First time on the track for a few racers but they seemed to settle in as the race progressed. The lear crew is fast and reliable winning both enduros so far.. 

 

Next race is Feb 4th. Looks like a light turnout due to some other events going on.  We will make  it work. Then feb 18th for our regular two classes. 

 

Planning a 160 minute enduro for March 4th.   We will be using the JK B90B body its a Ford MK IV.  Neat looking coupe body.  They are on order.  Thanks all.

Would be great to see you and Steve Deiters show up. Keep in mind the old saying "its always more fun when you put off till tomorrow what you should do today.

 

On a side note, I can't believe that there are not 2 more racers from the Ohio, Indiana, Michigan area that don't want to round out the field of 8 teams.
