The neighborhood I grew up in was probably 75% Italian American plus there was always lots of grand parents and relatives from "the old country" around. My barber John Nardelli called all the kids in his barbershop "little chuch".  :)

Nickel plated is the happening thing. I've procured wire from the other purveyors you mentioned , only to have it rust before I arrived home. Damnit! I wish New process Gear was still here. I had friends who would plate anything with anything I wanted. From nickel to titanium nitride,nitrate. Potato,pottotto.

Eastman used to sell "DO-it-yourself" plating kits. If they're still in business, maybe they still do. For a chemistry class project in HS I made a copper plating setup. It worked, but it was slow.

There are 2 hobby stores in the Syracuse area that carry the 3' K&S wire. There are also several Ace Hardware stores that will presumably have the same wire. I'd definitely buy from one of those sources rather than taking a chance on Amazon.

And I would patronize the local stores first also, if I wasn't in a wheelchair. I can't walk through a store looking for stuff, so Amazon has been a boon to me. After shopping with them for a while now, I have had only one return, from a third party supplier, on something I thought I was getting a deal on. As to piano wire, if I order K & S from Amazon, that's what I get. In K & S packaging, not bent, and not rusted. At a price very close to what it is in a brick and mortar store. Free shipping. And more often than not, I get it the next day. I'm smart enough not to let politics drive my shopping habits. I go where I get the best service. The exception is hobby items. I like to buy from the local slot track or model train store if I can. (again, they need to have mail order service) But I haven't been doing much building lately, so the hobbies have stagnated. Something I hope I can change.

P.S. The shipping isn't actually free. I pay $129.00/year for a Prime subscription. For the free shipping, I could care less about their promotions. On average, I order from Amazon five times per month. And the shipping would average out to about $5.00 per delivery. That is $25.00/month, or $300.00/year. Plus I get free music downloads, and free Max streaming. ( I don't use the streaming, since I have the Max bundle as part of my cable service, and the programs are the same.)

The state of California has decided that:
Anything fun can cause cancer.
Aside from that, gave the rims a soda blasting and a coat of gold paint. I can't bring myself to put pins in that sexy body,or the Ferrari.
As far as Amazon, they built the second largest warehouse in the world a few miles from me. I'd be willing to bet, they'd ship from Seattle to get it to me.

For no body pin holes, mount the body with clear packing tape. Many hard body racers in the Northwest mount their bodies that way. There is no reason it won't work with clear bodies too. There is a simple way to save your decals, if you use them.

What does it matter? If you get it next day, and the price is the same as it would be coming from anywhere else? My main beef with Amazon is that, when Bezos first started selling merchandise after selling only books, he promised to handle only American made goods. He has not followed through with that promise.

The real culprit here is the American consumer. As long as we will buy a product from Guangdong rather than one from the U. S. just because it is a few bucks cheaper, American manufacturing will suffer. I was in manufacturing for nearly 50 years. I did everything from sweeping up shop floors, to toolmaking, tool designing, process development, new product development, and finally management. I started when the United States was the largest volume producer, then watched it slide downhill as we promoted offshore sources with technology, equipment and even billions in grant money. We made what those foreign conglomerates are today.

I didn't buy a brand new 260Z because it would have gotten hung from a tree like a pinata or, put in a dumpster. I regret not buying it and a Smith & Wesson to go with it. Then again,I'd just be getting paroled , maybe.
Billnh, I didn't get your post when I had posted my last post.
I'm on to the next one. I do plan on revising this basic idea. Just not with this body.

Turned out decent. I've seen better, but I have also seen much worse. You are about halfway to the top. Good show that you are not afraid to post your builds as you go.

As for body mounting, you can cobble up a couple of side plates with pins to slip into the existing pin tubes. Then use Velcro to attach the body to those, much as they have been doing in FCS for ages. This is a chassis from Rod's collection;

asidemount1.JPG

Velcro will work just fine in a non-competitive environment. And there won't be any visable mounting pins or screws.

Billnh told me Velcro is only for my shoes.
I'm ok with it, it's a test run. I've got a drawer full of 60's bodies and, I'm going to try to make a standard chassis. One ting for sure is, I'll have the pans hydro cut for the rest!
Martin, your close. How could anyone build a P-4 and not built a GT-40 to go with it? But, no , that's not the next one. Should be done tonight or tomorrow night!(yes, still in 1/32)

Not much help on this one. The photo didn't enlarge well. Could be a 906, a 907, or a 910.

And a 910;

I don't see an intake grill in the nose, so I would say not a 907. The intakes in the rear fenders look square-ish, so I would say not a 910. My best bet, it is a 906.

and the top of the headlight covers are squared off... definitely a 906.

The 906 is the only one with the squared off headlights at the top, I"m pretty sure it's a 906.

I've got a 904 , it will be receiving a chassis like this. The wheel base is close enough to utilize this version for most. The Ferrari and Maserati(front engine) being the exception, have a longer WB.
I've amassed quite a few of the iconic 60's sports cars. What should I post them under? Body shop or here?

Hang on, what's a 907?

This should be put in a separate Porsche thread. Or it'll soon get lost in this Ferrari thread.
