:roflmao: No a custom Joey (NOOSE) Neumeister Sun Burst 8) controller handle for both left & right hands thumb  or trigger  features 8)

Hey, John . . . and all of you other die hards. Yes, I am alive and boy do I remember painting those controller handles and all of the Team Nutley bodies. I'm going to go digging through my old slot box (who could ever throw that stuff away!). I know I have some stuff from the mid to late '70s when Emmott opened up another raceway (BIR) in Union, NJ, and lo and behold Tony P and Ernie were there. I still have some of the old Car Model magazines too, so I'll scan some stuff from them. I have been into building static cars and will share some of the photos of them.

Noose, welcome to Slotblog! :)

Thanks for the welcome and Tony P says Hi. Talked to him today for over an hour. For those that don't know, Phil Rubens and Pete Von Ahrens are no longer with us.

Spent almost an hour on phone tonight with John Gorski. Looks like I will have to whip out the air brush and get back to work!

Dang, now both of my "neighbors" at the motel where we stayed at for the '69 4th of July race at Sullivan's in Dallas have met their maker. Sorry to hear that.

Phil looked half dead back then, but he was a pretty kool guy. I will always remember that dang ceramic Ungar soldering tip breaking (as he used it for a pry bar on a drop arm) flipping up in the air and landing square on his "solar panel" and leaving a lasting mark. And Black Bart drilling holes in the dresser and bolting his vice down . And there are many more stories from that race.

Rest in peace, gentlemen.

Hi,

Mr.Gorski . . . you used spring clips?

Wow! That is not something I remember seeing before.

Did you tape them down or anything?

Very interesting.

As an aside, I always thought those body clips were a Parma innovation. Is that wrong?

John, I'm with you: for racing purposes, nothing beats body clips, taped to the body so they can't come out. No pins for me (my close vision is so bad now that I can't get 'em back in without my geezer googles).

Yes indeed, it is wrong . . . Greg, you are WAAAY too young to have known the Russkit, Revell, Riggen-JAD, Cox, and K&B cars, all using the spring clip. The first use of it has to be credited to Russkit and their "Carrera Series" cars. Parma uses the very same clip as Russkit.

John,
Your brass body mount on the yellow Chaparral is by Dynamic. The body is by Lancer and is of the 1964 Chaparral with "flat" sides (before the wider cast-spoke wheels). The chrome bits on top of the back are Russkit items. :)

Philippe, OK, just what do you want from me? I mean, if you're calling a 52-year-old-geezer like me young, ya gotta want something . . .

Believe it or not, I do remember Cox and K&B cars from my first few years of slot racing. I used to bang 'em on the bars of my crib . . .

The Race Place in Farmingdale, NJ sounds like the proving ground in NJ, considering their monthly vintage slot car meetings. Have you stopped in to see them? How about a meeting with all of us on this board that are interested to brainstorm launching Div III here in the East? Let me know how I can help move this along. Send me a PM if you prefer. Thanks.

Hi, Ray,

I want to visit The Race Place and Zeppelin very soon just haven't got the time yet.

All my spare time has been getting things organized for this series, contacting people which takes a lot of tracking down then waiting for responses.  And testing out my cars at Trains & Lanes. I can post when we will be there and whoever wants to show up is welcome. You can even take a few laps with one of my cars. I am probably going to set up a race very soon, even if its only 6 or 8 cars, just to get started. There just weren't enough cars built or drivers ready yet to have a race but that's changing quickly. ;) Anyone that wants to build their own chassis, let me know. I can give you a list of what you will need to buy.

Keep It punched. :spin:

. . . on your next trip to Trains & Lanes in Easton, and I will make time to meet you there. ;) In the meantime I need to think about a 60 gram bare chassis. I still have a brass Champion drop Aam that weighs 40 grams, however I suppose I can reduce the size and weight by 2/3. Let's see, ears up front ala Champion, brass pans running right up to the ears, side rails narrow or set wide apart, a center rail, brass, wire, or combo rails, a motor box, overall length? Oh boy, this may take a while for me to conjure up. I may have to pay the piper afterall :o A Gorski, Steube, O'keefe (Arodyn) chassis, others perhaps? :?: Seems like our West Coast builders are many moons ahead, based on what I've seen so far.

Okay, everyone, I welcome your bids to build a 60 gram chassis for me.
