I do have a couple that are painted, a few others that are still clear. :) Should I ever get beyond using the Brownie, I'd post photos of what I have. :)

If you enjoy doing cars like these do it! I think you do a heck of a job and should be proud. Some people always criticize, you can't let them kill the joy of creating something you like. Obviously a lot of people enjoyed and respected your recreations.

Here's another customer's car. This one I had the pleasure of mounting on a genuine Rick Thigpen-built chassis!!!
Learned a lot by just examining dc-65x's work....
You cannot tell me that Cukras, Steube and the other racers of the period built cars like this!
NO WAY!
Anyway, here is the car...

Great looking car as usual! Did cars of this vintage cut out the body to expose the front wheels? By the time I came back to racing in 1975 you either had to have the body clear over the wheels ( masking with Avery labels dots) or cut out the wheel wells.

Body has not been cut yet. This is going on a 1968 Tony P chassis... and back then, they cut out the front wheel openings, as God intended them to be!

By 1975 we had gotten pretty far removed from scale and it just kept getting worse. The thinner the body the more likely you would sustain damage around an open wheel well so I guess thats why rules tended to get relaxed. Thanks for the info!

Body painting like that shown on these pages should not be allowed to be displayed :( :( :( :(

It makes "hams" like me want to go jump off a bridge.

Man, this stuff is art! :) :)

I'll never achieve anything 1% as good.

Congrats. Beautiful work.

I'm envious and as jealous as hell.

Did he punch the holes first or did he make the same mistake I did?
If so he will need one of these:
 inside before punching
And a Champion body mount block.

Pablo,
I did indeed punch 'some holes' with a nifty little punch tool. Hope they are in the correct spots. :?

Oh ye of little faith! Of course Brian punched some holes... and I shot the rockers lightly as well. With a desk lamp and patience he will be fine!

As an aside... Brian’s car, in this thread, has inspired me to start my own '68 A-can car using the directions found in Oct. '68 issue of Car Model magazine and ArrowDynamics wonderful plans. Body to be a Ford GT40 Mk4 produced by the Aussies...
Film to follow at 11....

Jairus, nice work. You have WAY too much aero on this thing. To make it handle great without losing a ton of top speed, trim it like this:

Posted Image

Yep, that's all it needs. Also make sure that the back of the body is completely trimmed off otherwise it will retain air and cause... LIFT! Also make large holes behind the front wheels on top of the fenders, and a smaller one below the rear spoiler. Cut large arches on front of the rear wheels like on the real Ferrari 312P to let the air out.
Then the car will really rock and will also look prettier... :)

Where's Adam getting all his Lancer Porsche bodies? Did Ron H. finally find the molds? :)

That's because Ron has it labeled as a Honda XR! Not Porsche.....

Thanks for the link. I'd actually prefer the Lancer Porsche coupe but the open cockpit version will work. :)

Thank you to Jairus for the fine job that he did on the Red Fox GT-1 bodies that I sent him for painting.

His work is top notch and all communications were friendly and professional; the turn around from sending date to the day I had the finished bodies in my hands was very quick indeed.

It will be a while before I am able to work with them due to other obligations, but when I get them mounted and ready to rock, I'll post some pics here.
That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.
