This is the first McLaren F1 and predates the Yellow/Orange color scheme we are all used to. The McLaren M2b dates from 1966 and used a Lotus chassis and Ford DOHC Indy car engine.
This last image is for the chassis freeks out there who always want to see "what's underneath"!
(Fine print: No decals were harmed in the painting and detailing of this car.)

The Wheels AND Tires are by "our own" Aro Dyn. The frame is by "our own" EBD and the motor on this one is a NOS stock Pactra Hemi X88 I think this represents some of the best work by some of the FINEST CRAFTSMEN around today!!! I think the VINTAGE KOPPS will be satisfied as well!!! THANKS TO ALL!!

Enjoy.
Of course I am no where near as good as some SoCal painters, but I always try to do my very best.

That's right up there with that Steube guy, who is showing some promise as a racer.Of course I am nowhere near as good as some SoCal painters, but I always try to do my very best.
Painters develop a style, not everybody may like a certain style but you do as good or better than anybody. No apologies or modesty, false or otherwis,e needed!
Just keep on painting!
Your wood look design brought back memories of a Womp truck I painted with a wood look on the bed. It was a fun project. Not nearly as artistic as this one though.

I would seriously argue the point, not so much about these thingies above, but about the replicas of vintage pro-racing bodies I have seen so far from you.Of course I am nowhere near as good as some SoCal painters, but I always try to do my very best.

Great idea, Mr. Austin. We could have a voting poll on the Blog to see who gets most votes :up:After watching many biker build-offs on the boob tube, and seeing in the end the builders leave happy and the fans get to see wonderful projects, I felt a slot car Paint-Off would be cool.
Jairus, has already accepted the offer, providing Dave will accept also. I will be talking with Dave the Vitter, tonight or as soon as I can pull him away from the BBQ.
Should Dave accept, which I am pretty sure he will, we will have ourselves a "Gentlemen's Friendly Paint-Off" that will be a pleasure for all of us.
We will see two painters giving us a chance to see the best they have to offer. I will supply two similar bodies for them.
Friendly competition is good, and we fans sitting on the sidelines watching these paintjobs develop will be blessed with these two gentlemen's finest work.

Not entirely correct. As an old friend of Russell, I can vouch for the fact that he does indeed paint most of his own. In some cases, however he has enlisted the help of others in the preparation of some bodies that he has subsequently finished. His "crocodile" Audi R8 is an example, where he had a friend lay down the artwork, but Russell laid the paint. Russell has also always acknowledged this type of help on all of his projects. He has a Michael Schumacher-like ability to surround himself with other equally talented people and produce amazing results.Tore, Russell doesn't paint his own cars.
I for one would never want to take Russell on head to head again when it comes to car preparation or painting - I've lost too often in the past on both counts!

Ok ! I stand recorrected. I had the honor of driving the "Crocmobile" Audi R8 at Dokk's Proxy Race. Maybe Froggemheimer can dig up a photo of it again, but pics may not do it justice having seen it in person. A truly awesome effort. :up:Not entirely correct. This marvellous achievement, kindly donated by Russell, will be one of the stars of the Electric Dreams slot car museum in Los Angeles...His "crocodile" Audi R8 is an example, where he had a friend lay down the artwork, but Russell laid the paint.
