I have a true story to tell you. When I was about 8 years old, I was showing quarterhorses at the Del Mar Fair Grounds in California. I was minding my own business, walking along in my cowboy hat and boots. A group of 3 boys, about my same age, approached me. One of them quickly ducked under the railing of the horse racing track and said "Hey you, come on over to this side of the fence". I looked at him and other 2 boys, and it was pretty obvious they were only looking for a fight. I had done nothing to them, and they had done nothing to me. We were total strangers. I just walked away. They only wanted to fight. I had a show to attend. They didn't. There was nothing to be gained for me to duck under the fence and fight, so I ignored them, walked away, and never saw them again. There was no prize to be won by engaging them. It was a losing situation.

You will NEVER see pablo in a soldering contest. God knows I can solder well, thanks to Radio Shack minitorches and Greg Wells, and I don't need to prove anything to mere mortals. Everybody on this blog is an artist and a gentleman; why divide ourselves? You won't see me suckered into a fight, or a contest.
Rick A., I think your goal of making friends of the Vitt and JW is a truly great idea, but can't we do it without a competition?

David Larsen and Jairus Watson are both GREAT craftsmen. I hereby declare a TRUCE. Life is too short to waste time. Beauty is everywhere. Enjoy it.

Instead of a man to man contest how about a thread where you take your best shot. No one class of car, just what each racer wants to represent his best work. A car show on line. We may hear from people that otherwise might not post. 8)

OK, Rick, If the competition results in the Vitt and JW being friends, I would be happy to admit I was totally wrong :)

Clearly none of you have seen a biker build off on Discovery Channel.

I did several times, but no longer do as but I have to refrain my interest for farm implements and body piercing.

Now that I got my thread back…
Here is another car just finished. The body is a Cooper Maserati F1 from 1967 or so.
Posted Image
Since I received the chassis with the body already mounted, the wheelbase was already set at a short 3.75”.
Posted Image
Vacuum formed transmission, evergreen styrene was used to make the exhaust pipes and aluminum tube for the intake stacks
Posted Image
Posted Image
Chassis is brass and steel wire frame with a Mubachi can, Champion endbell and Arco magnets with shim.

Those orange axle spacers aren't vintage. :)

You want to bet on it? (note by the moderation)

I didn't build the car, I just painted and detailed it. As I said, I received the chassis with the body already cut and mounted.
But... your right and the spaces should be removed alltogether now that I think about it.

Bob Suzuki, after seeing those intestines, and balloning monster eyes, and boogered nose on that thingie you painted, you are for sure elligable for a paintoff but try not to scare the begeezes out of me again with such a wild paintjob. I'm still having nightmares.

Keep the pictures coming Jairus.

Another good job Jairus! 8) It was more fun watching those cars race. You could see the driver and watching the old races at Monaco cars actually passed each other. The down side was driver protection was nonexistent. I think I was in 8th grade when I discovered GP racing. Stirling Moss was my hero, later I added Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Ken Miles and Scooter Patrick, amongst others.

Thank you Tom.
The name on the drivers suit is "CIIIIYI". Which is what happens when your painting in 98 degree temp with flat black and a teeny-tiny brush.
