It's simple to figure out why that was the number to be charged. Take 20 racers at $30 an hour and you have $1800 - the equivalent of 3 plus birthday parties not held.

I couldn't agree more with you there!Keith don`t take it personally. We all adjusted to the conditions. For myself, I raised both my cars another .015 to equal a .055 to .060 braid depth that morning and had no problems at all punching the bank on every lane in both classes. However, in doing so I chose the best of two evils as that change made driving into the deadman with its worn out lanes, esp. green very tricky. I grew up racing high powered, low downforce cars on a extremely querky and bumpy track, so the current state of the Nuvolari track was a plus for myself. I bought 15 min on yellow for practice and Tony let me run on his lane when he was making changes to his cars. 30 bucks for a pit pass is a joke given the conditions, and to find that out race morning screamed goudging for me. I refuse to pay that kind of money. Let Elmsford rot as a birthday track, cause its pretty obvious to me that money spent never makes it to track upkeep. The fact that so much destruction at one race, and the endless yelling of "TRACK" or "RIDER" in our ears over the course of 13 hours on a sunday for only two classes of cars proves we should have raced chainsaws on it instead. If the track was fixed in a few areas the need to charge so much would be mute as our time there would have at least been cut in half. Fix the OBVIOUS problems, so racing at one of slot racings hallowed grounds will become a welcome venue for Retro East and all of slot racing, as it should be.
I am upset with me for pushing for an event there and them not once but twice having more than one issue running an event there. I am upset to the level of damage to fellow racers cars. I am upset that a place I have known for years has had it's day a long time ago...
The 30 for the pass and the shape of the track is something I am personally going to take to the powers that be there myself.

Glad to help you out race morning. I had a lot of free time on my lane because my good racer was destroyed while Noose was trying to figure out if we could do something about the deadman in green, it popped out and landed right in Jay's lane and got walled before I could utter a word. My practice car was no where up to the task even after I thrashed on it while trying to get a car together for the F1 race. I should have just saved the entry fee and sat it out. I would up not having a car for either class after the F1 race was moved. If I drove up myself I would have left... It was the least fun day I have had since I started racing again.

I dare ask what the cut was out of the entry fee for both races
As with all Retro East races, the raceway gets 2/3rds the entry fee for the 1st race and 1/2 of the second. The blanace of the money goes into the Retro East pool to pay for all of the stuff at the end of the series and some things along the way.

Thanks to Ian Karr for painting a nice body. Thanks also to Paul for building tips and getting a car for me to race.
I put photos we took up on my website, see http://www.fridaynig...st_09-01-25.htm. Isaac took two videos, see for GTC and for F1 (make sure to select 'view in High Quality' at the bottom right of the image to get the best image).
The track is what it is. There are certainally some places where the lanes could be better and the braids are not flat. I guess we should travel more to try out the pristine tracks.
Elmsford does have weekly series. Isaac races in the junior Friday Night Races - mostly wing cars with blueprinted S16D's (he want's to use his GTC this week). They get a good turnout for Drag Racing. Paul re-started the Thursday night series for GT cars, the points series started Jan 8. He wants to get a retro series going. BTW, the other tracks were filled with rentals Sunday, there were no birthday parties - they would have used the tables.

For the future we must set a standard for the cost of a Pit Pass and publish it in the race schedule. We must use raceways such as Chicagoland, Keystone and/or Dom's to set the standard. This is only fair to the racers, and shame on Elmsford for imposing such an unannounced surprise fee to our racers.

If they open at 8 and we tech at 10, that gives 1.5 hours of usable track time. You got to figure not everyone (ray) is there when they open.
The Pit pass has to be less than buying 90 minutes of track time.
Whatever the practice time in the morning is deduct 1/2 hour and base it on that.
If we run a later in the day race we will worry about it then.

We don't look at a pit pass as just a practice fee. It certainly includes other services as well. things like pit space, electric at or near that space,heat/ A/C, Coffee,Donuts, Lunches. ofcourse you have things like track prep for the event(if the raceway does this?)Clean up after the event. all these things play into a days racing.
Personally, If I were racing somewhere. I'd think anywhere from $10.00 to $15 would be reasonable depending on how good a job the raceway does at providing those services.
I'll Add Retro east in my opinion as far as entry fee's ,should be a benchmark for other series.

I consider it part of my job. problem is, it all has to get paid for as well.
We had a conversation last night here at the raceway about pit pass, costs ect. My comment was that I could actually see a $30.00 pit pass being worth paying, if it was truely worth it. Man I got some funny looks Truth is I got a first hand veiw of operating a raceway and costs involved.
Could you imagine going to elmsford with brand new gerding built replica's of the current tracks, Hot Coffee, Fresh Donuts(Chocolate covered!) A catered buffet lunch that go's above and beyond! I don't know about you guys, but i'm salivating!
Everything costs.

So a $30.00 pit pass and say 2 races @ $15 a pop, that's $60.00 for a full day of entertainment that includes your food.
Anyone been to a amusement park lately? Hershey Park was 58.00 a person to get in last I remember.(about 2 years ago) once you are in,everything is suddenly 2 or 3 times what it costs anywhere else. 2.50 for a bottle of water 3.00 for a coke, 5.00 hot dogs.
Anyone go to the beach this summer? Wow! is all I can say about that!
Anyone into skiing? what are lift passes these days?
Golfing? I hear Greens fee's can be pretty salty?
I know these opinions might not always be the favorite opinions, but they really aren't that far out of reality with todays costs.
Speaking of todays costs, I need to get back to work.
Have a nice evening guys!
