Guys
you can say what you want but Ortmann's and now ABslotsport Ultrathane work on any kind of track. Plus we will not have track owners banning silicone and tire additives breathing down our neck.
Kind regards

Thanks Dokk. I've got tears in my eyes...actually it's from touching the nylon endbell with the soldering iron. Holy cow, the fumes are like tear gas.

Bob, NICE frames! I really like the "jail door"
Whats with the brown eb 26D? I have one just like it w/ the funny looking sticker on it. Is that made by Testors? Mine seems to be a pretty fast motor but its not as fast as my Champion 26Ds

The only "colored" end bells for Mabuchi FT26 motors were produced for Testor (not "Testors" then), in brown and for K&B in yellow for their "Jaguar" motor. I am not aware of any other color other than the usual plain white "melt-O-matic" end bells, and of course the less meltable Champion FT26 replacement end bell.

The FT26 cans were always nickel plated except for the Classic motors (orange cans) and the Dynamic motors (purple cans). Of course Dynamic also produced a small number of "Green Hornet II" in light metallic green, painted right over the original purple!
U-Go motors had a red can painted over whatever they could find, from nickel cans to orange ones. I think that ALL others were left in the factory nickel finish.

Champion had special "one-hole" cans made for them by Mabuchi with extra mounting holes on the nose and top-bottom of the can. Those were sold as "601" motors and provided the base for the rewound "607" motors.

Howkill Motors painted some of their cans gold, others blue. When those things didn't blow up on you, you usually had a fast motor. :)

I saw lots of them in 1968-69. I never bought one because most the local shop got in were wound with "silver" wire & those things were either a bullet or a grenade, most were grenades. I still recall the local hotshot kid Kenny Moody holler in the middle of a race, "Uncle Perley, it's slowing down" as his Howkill 26D went up in smoke.

Hey Bill, since you mentioned them, where did Howkill motors come from anyway?

I had never heard of them before ebay. Picked up one of their 36D versions, but haven't seen too many. The one I got came in a small plastic case marked Howkill, but that seemed to hold some kind of hardware originally... were they a company that made nuts & bolts and branched out into rewound motors???

Don, I don't know much of their history but I think they were located in the Boston area. What I do remember is that shops in New England had no problems getting them in the late 60s. The supply always seemed to be plentiful. Howkill wound a variety of double & triple winds as well as the singles. Didn't that ebay Howkill you have come from here in NH? :)

And here a new 1/32 entry from Lucio:

Lucio's car is a Ferrari "Farina" from Betta which is a reproduction of a 69 512s Ferrari that was a "Dream Car" never produced. The chassis was built by him in the 80's.

I would be luckier if I could keep all of them after the races!
Maybe I'll leave for Rio with them not to be seen again

Remember Interpol Edo!

They probably have a file on you already. Me too I bet (following the infamous 1969 "plot" to spike the Chicago water system with LSD...)
