Fear not, we'll get the originals back where they belong. I will pull a mold of the 300SLR cockpit for resin-casting--I dream of doing a line "character" heads eventually, all depends on where my hobby takes me.

I never saw the 1/24 Shark Merc 196 streamliner that I remember. What I was doing in the day was a series of Lancia Ferraris! My first in 60 was the Strombecker, and in 63 a series of Dubro based cars. We all know that the Streamliner has zero chance against a Lancia!

Yah yah yah, big smack talk. I'm gonna be putting along behind all of you in my Connaught, but I'll be smiling.

Hey Duffy, it's already decided that Lancia Ferrari's are illegal right ;) :D .

It's OK with me if you let them in as they'll have no chance against the Mighty Benz-O-Liner :laugh2: .

Lancia? No Lancia? Are we gettin' snarky this early in the game?
"The Rules Are: There ARE NO Rules..."

We were having gigglefits a while ago, figuring we could divvy up classes by car width. 2" class, 2.2" class, so on. There oughta be a Formula. sidewinder gives y'an extra point, plus tire footprint divided by vintage year...keep adding a rule every five minutes 'til someone gets pissed off...

"verbs"......that's the stuff you put on food to spice it up

Hmm. Careful how you conjugate, your wife'll get quizzical.

I've spent the day not-finding 9/32 tube for an axle carrier on my Pittlock sidewinder chassis, and just moments ago decided to start on the front end instead. Wanna heat up my soldering iron at least once before trying something different with Tilapia. Maybe pics later.

Hi

I was thinking that every so often, we could mail cars to Jeff and let him bounce them off walls in the flat track to see who survives.

Oh, and which is faster!

If you're talking about stuff with padlock motors, you can send them my way too - they work fine on my track.

Hi

So, Dennis, a Two Track Series?

Do you not have 3" lane centers? Thus, the cars would be limited to the 2.5max. That Zerex is tiny. My Cooper Monaco with a 36d is small enough. Hmmm.

The problem is Duffy not being an old fart with stuff laying around. Periodically I send "care packages". next up is a POS someone else did that Jim Cunningham sold me for cheap that has a Strombecker clone of the 704 in it. These are excellent on tracks like your's, Dennis, not so much on bigger tracks.

Nuther lost cause, built by me about 8 years ago. Original pre Lexan Butyrate body. Original Cox inline brass tube chassis, Revell SP80, Cox mag wheels etc.

Of course, built by my very Amateur self.

Embarrassingly Amateur Eh??

This was built by me about 5 years ago, every single compnent, except the rear tires predates 1964 (pretty sure), including, the big slab O brass, and the braids.

Now, this one might just lose me my Amateur status, the body being WWWWAAAAYYYYYY to new, and, I appologise for my indiscretion.

But, the chassis is definitely 62-64, and, again, except for the rather modern (67????) era body, all other materials, including the less than 1/4" wide (and, very original) Veco tires all predate 1965, the motor being a bit new at late 64 I believe.

...See, this is why I cringed at the idea of the word "Ameteur" in the first place. Al's sarcasm approaches the level of Nestafying.

I think we're safe in using Old, New, Like New, & Like Old in our builds. Some of us are kinda Vintage-deplete and would still like to play, and I figure as long as It's A Hobby Not A Document it's safe to do creative anachronisms and run 'em on the track. There'll come the inevitable day when this all gets turned into An Event and the Racy guys will have to hammer all the details down to a flat uniform rule as thick as foil and as interesting, but 'til then, let's dance.

Now, here's one not built by me (well, I did reasemble it from a big box of bits), but, by some other obvious Amateur probably about 1962-3 I would guess from the bits used.

I did however put my very Amateur talents to painting the Revell BRM Graham Hill driver Dude.

I love how high Gurney sticks up out of the cockpit here. Don't care who built it, Al, the Porsche's a wonderous-fine model and deserves its laps.

My part--
An evening's progress shot of my Pittlock build, done SteamPunk style with bronze rod & cute lil' 65 brackets from Thigpen. Fate observes that Duffy can never just make the frame--Yah, well, y'think this one's overly-swoopy, you should have seen what I originally tried to do. And failed. Four times.

Boy, do they ever need more smilies around here Eh!??

Rulz, there's gonna be Rulz, I thought rule #1 was, There are no Rulz ;)

Speaking of Wheels (we were speaking of wheels weren't we?), do we need Vintage style large diameter skinny wheels for these things. I think I know someone that can do that. ;)

Threaded, set screw???????

and deserves its laps

It gets them on a fairly regular bassis. It's a real nice driver, very smooth with it's 2:1 ratio RP77 power (or, lack thereof)

Nice job on the Padlockmobile, very Swoopifying.

Al, where is the rest of my wheels? :)

But, the chassis is definitely 62-64, and, again, except for the rather modern (67????) era body

The Kal-Kar chassis was issued in 1964, and the Hasegawa Dino in 1966. Nice car!

There Are No Rulz.

Gonna have new-Russkit rims w/setscrew on the King Cobra, but in the meantime I've acquired enough threaded wheels & axles to plan a next build with those. In addition to threaded rims, we may need to shop around for a job lot of 5-40 shafts in 4140 TGP.
