Finally go this done for Chris on here who was the winner of the AroDyn Hammerhead Chassis we auctioned off for Jay Kisling. Chris wantred a body for it so I had to wait to get it then get it done to include mounting it. Shame I couldn't get the Pearl White to show better.

This is off to Belgium tomorrow!

Can put these up now since Jr. gave Dad aka known as Fast Freddie Younkin (Fast Freddie on here, too) these as presents. Such a nice son! The rules were to put Smokey on them as that apparently was an old Navy name Fred had. Glad both father and son liked them.

Thanks for the great paint work, Noose.

I was totally shocked and surprised to see what my first born had done. It was a very good surprise. The work is as outstanding as usual. I really don't even want to race them but my son said he'd feel hurt it I just displayed them. Then he added "just try not to ding them up too much." If I make it to the Sano then I'll race them there; if not, I'll see you at Dom's for the championship race.

Thanks, again. A very special THANKS to my boy.

So I get these instructions: "I want it like the white 1/32 car and I want the other like the yelllow 1/32 car". Well... "it" turned out to be them. :laugh2:

So here is Ralph Klose's fleet to match is 1/32 cars. And the yellow and red ones BTW are all .007" thick. Talk about tough taping!

Hi Joe,

I hand-lettered my last name on a O/S Ferrari 612 last night. While I was surprised at how steady my hand was, considering my massive Diet Coke consumption, I was less than happy with the various paint brushes I tried. Are there any you recommend and what sizes?

I'm using One Shot enamel.

Speaking of which, is there anything I can use (a dullcoat?) to reduce the shine of an interior I painted on the outside, again with the One Shot?

I use various sizes. For larger areas, a size 0. For some of the smaller areas, sizes 5/0 or 10/0 Rounds or Liners. For striping, door lines, etc. I use 18/0.

All are Golden Taklon brushes. I usually get them from A.C. Moore. Most craft or art stores have them and the price is anywhere from $2.50 to $4.50 each. I use One Shot Paints and just plain mineral spirits to clean them. One Shot also has a reducer that works like a thinner and also cleans them but is more expensive.

As for flattening the tone, mix it with some flat paint.

With some sort of clear flat? What brand?

I didn't notice anything appropriate on the One-Shot rack at my local Blick's.

Thanks.

In my limited "hand lettering" of the past... we used turpentine for thinning the paint to control it better. Dip the brush in the paint and then dip the brush with paint on it in a small "cap" of the "turps"... this will give you all kinds of control by thinning the thicker enamel lettering paint. Then we used the turps for cleaning the brushes.

Post a pic of your "art", Mike. ;)

I believe One Shot has some flattening "powder". You can always use Model Master Flats instead of trying to tone down these.
