Joe, you sure do work fast! That or you have a bunch of illegals in the back room doing your bidding...

Nice work, very nice work!

Yessir, Noose is the best painter by far and he knows how to drive a slot car also! :)

John... are you trying to get banned?
I did not say that nor is it funny! Joe and I are both professional painters and I will not get into a pissing match with him just because YOU decided to insult one of us.

Whaaaats up, Jarius. Am I not entitled to an opinion now?

You are a very good artist and body painter; however, Noose is simply the best! :)

Tore, that is YOUR opinion and others may think differently. Are they allowed?

Thanks, Tore... but let's calm down now, guys. Jairus is GREAT artist. I'm thankful someone else out there loves to do this stuff and can!

Now... time for me to get back to work. More pics coming later.

Both of you are very good, but your styles are very different. So personal preference is not even in question, like saying that Van Gogh is better than Monet.

Do they paint slot car bodies? How come I've never heard of them? :pardon:

Hi Joe, Noose,

I've heard of you and Jairus (and Warmack)... it's those Van Gogh and Monet characters... are they from the Midwest? :mda:

Monet has a vineyard in SoCal... keeps Dokk in supply of French fake wine. Van Gogh is in Greystone Asylum here in Jersey, still sonering why things look blurry. But that's his impression(ism).

Wow! How bout that last lap of IRL season!

OK, OK, I'll get back on topic! It's no secret that Jairus and Noose are the best in the business painting and lettering bodies! I like to tint my wind-screens like some Can-Am teams did yesteryear. So please can you guys recommend your prefered method!

Thanks!

I'll give you my poor man's way to tint windscreens.

Put a drop or two of acrylic paint (water-based paint such as Parma FasKolor) in a small mixing bottle. Add another drop or two of water to get the transparency you want. Add one drop of liquid dish soap. The soap acts as a bonding agent to help it stick to the Lexan.

Be careful when mixing it as it will lather up like soap if you are too "physical" when mixing. Apply it over the whole windscreen pretty quickly because it dries pretty quickly. You'll have to brush out the streaks (I brush the tint on). Once it's dried, it is slightly "milky" and not perfectly clear but it gets the job done as you CAN see through it.

If Lee Jet shows up, see if he's got a McLaren with him that I built; its windscreen was tinted in this manner.

Great! Thanks, Tex!

Goat's preferred method is to simply airbrush some armature dye. (One can also airbrush blue Dykem or machinist's layout fluid.)

Tamiya's clear stuff works too, if it's diluted with their thinner.

I use a teaspoon of Kleer Floor Finish which is almost like water anyway... and add a drop of Badger Acrylic or Parma FasKolor.

I also mix a couple of different shades of the same color and do the old airbrush fade on my windshield tint jobs... when my damn compressor is working... which it isn't right now... :help:

Thanks, Tex. This is what happens when a tropical storm comes through (Hanna) and I don't play golf.

I almost called the Rust-Oleum one "Spam" or " Scrapple", but couldn't make up my mind. :laugh2:

What's the best way to make gold leaf stick to bodies?

You will need to use some sort of adhesive... something like the 3M Spray Mount stuff but apply it light with a brush in the area you want. Then apply the gold leaf and smooth it out with a brush.

Why not just paint it gold instead?

Thanks, Noose.

I will try the "sizing" way first!...

I recalled Bob Kovacs in the '60s using gold leaf and it left a "trick textured look" for additional Sanoness!!! :)
