For retro, did you know a JK bracket is built to lay flat on the deck and provides perfect clearance with .812 wheels ? Jig wheels aren't really even needed execpt maybe just to align the bushings. Just ensure the bracket is flat, straight, and centered.
As far as metric, digital calipers can be had on EBay very reasonably, and all you have to do is push a button to show metric.

BTW who made those jigs when they were available?

I always chuckle when I see a "THEY should..." comment--but, I was already thinking along these lines myself, so I can't complain. Thanks Bill personally I think they should start to manufacture them again,
Having messed around quite a bit with the new R-Geo jig, and in many non-standard wheel sizes to boot, I've come to like the jackscrew feature he's using to set axle heights. Unfortunately, you don't have a lot of choice in wheelbase with this function. Even one pair of jig blocks like this, with a fine-enough vernier, would pretty much solve it all.
I may have to discuss this stuf with Rick, re: height requirements and graduations. The four or five of us worldwide that might ever need this much fussiness might be within my range of capabilities, making ME "The "Go-To THEY." We'll talk.

Neener neener...I got mine!
Rick went back to round because of people complaining. I didn't get it. I think they are a brilliant solution.

That's easy: they're where you dry the toothpicks after the olives come off...., just trying to inspire Nesta. Maybe someday he will figure out what all those holes are for on his Rick's Jig
I'm thinking about these graduated jig blocks. There're possibilities...I keep wanting them to do MORE. I don't know when to let a good idea just BE, entire and perfect. After all, I'm Duffy. So little time, so much to overdo.
Rick went back to round because of people complaining.
Rick must be a Democrat.
Well, I can sorta get it, people just can't wait to push their little car and make Vroom-Vroom noises! But, why limit oneself? Rick could have round ones, AND holey ones. He could combine them and be a Holey Roller. I'm trying right now to talk him into letting me make him a drill jig to turn these things out. He's not answering my calls. Typically, that means he's weakening.
I'd be up for some myself, assuming they were ever re-manufactured.
Nesta, me, Gary--that makes three so far. --How many did I say?

Duffy don't forget Bill?
--But he didn't actually say he'd BUY 'em...okay, so, four.
Anyway, Rick & I are talking drill jigs now. One for Normal Racers with 3/32 & 1/8 in popular tyre sizes, & maybe one for Scale dweebs & their 1-3/16" diam. & such...see, there's no end to this stuff until you just stop.

P, I have a nice little Lola T-70 by Revell and a bunch of Russkit bits waiting for just such an inspiration. This may just be it, keep going!

Yeah for sure. The title could throw off someone who was actually interested in a 1/24th like this, although initially he didn't actually KNOW what scale it was.Well, I read through this whole thread and I gotta say that I am impressed with the project and Pablo's work so far. But, shouldn't the title be changed?

Sunburst flag: blade has been shortened to fit the front of the body, and rotating surface faced.
Cobra tongue trimmed to fit the flag, faced, 10 thou forward lift.
Whenever I use a .063 X 1" brass block like this, I always use the Dennis Samson trick of using the ridges to my advantage with regards to the tilt. Also, the Rick Thigpen method of filing the upper edges of the block a little to allow solder to pool along the (rail/block) joint.
My retro buddy John Clow says "Boy, Pablo, you really ARE anal, aren't you !?"
Yes I am.
I changed my mind on the piano wire rails --- they will be brass.

See, the real problem is that Freud just gave us a bad name. It's--unsettling. All these pretty-positive traits lumped in with that Eeeew word.My retro buddy John Clow says "Boy, Pablo, you really ARE anal, aren't you !?"
Now, if he'd called us, say, DIGITAL, heck, everybody's wanna BE us! "Ohhh, he's soooo Digital..."

I agree, the human eye is an amazing creation. What blows my mind is when I eyeball something, mike it, and it is +/- one thou
BUT, sometimes the mind can play tricks on you.
No instrument currently created by mankind can replicate the human eye. This is why kamikaze pilots were so effective
