Michigan Retro Racers,

The MRRA would like to Thank Dennis Pennington for hosting the MRRA Series warm-up race 9/11/2010 at Slot Car Crossing, Holly, Mi.

I would also like to thank the racers who made this race a success. They would be in no particular order.

Dennis Pennington (Slot Car Crossing)
Mike Chmielewski (M&T Raceway)
Dave Mountz ( Procession Slot Car )
Cap Henry (HMS Speedways)
Rich Attee ( The Groove )
Dave Decoster
Jerry Ward
John Miller
Brian Lanenbacher
Greg VanPeenen (MRRA)

A special thanks to Julie Mountz for her all her assistance, and to the young lady that was our Race Director I lost her name (my bad).

John Miller it was great to see you back at the races.

I had planned on a few more racers (you know who you are). We had a great time at this race no drama. The FUN WAS BACK and you were all sorely missed.

Congratulations to Cap Henry winner of the F-1 and Can-Am Races. You are an outstanding young man and racer. You are helping us catch up with other series that have been running for several years. Thank you for supporting the MRRA

Congratulations go out to Dennis Pennington winner of the MRRA Retro Flexie race. If you can get time off from your Raceway we hope to see you a more MRRA events.

MRRA Retro Flexi proved to be a great class, and would make an outstanding weekly class at any raceway.

I hope to see you all at the first Series Race, Lets show the rest of the Retro Racing World that we mean business. Like John Miller put it The Michigan Mafia are coming to a raceway near you.

I enjoy racing with you guys, it's alot of fun!

Plus its good practice for me, as when I came up to the first warm up at M&T, that was only the third time I raced on a King!

I really had a lot of fun and it was great seeing everyone and meeting new folks.

It sounds like a trip to Ohio is in order since Cap has been supporting our events!

Big Mike, send me those pics and I'll post them for you.

Actually I ran a pair of cars Josh built for me recently.

The track had a completely flat, tight deadman and the Crutchfield car seemed to go through there better cause it was a couple grams heavier.

But I did win with Tony's car at M&T, car is amazing on a King :)

Cap,

Mike E-mailed me the OCC rules. But what pray tell are the accepted motors and set ups. I cannot find that information anywhere I would hate to show up with a USRA Legal .540 Contender motor with Ball Bearing Cahoza set up with T-5 Magnets and UL can with their new gold plated hardware and have OCC tell me it is not one of their accepted motor combination's.

greg, any non strap c-can is good, but you have to run bushings in the can and end bell. No cobalt or Multi-Segment Magnets. If you have any other questions call frank at 330-644-0822

Retro Racers,

Tomorrow Sunday October 17 the second warm up for the MRRA October 24th Series Race at Slot Car Crossing in Holly, Mi. Everyone is invited come get some track time with your Retro Cars. We will run Retro Flexi cars ,Can-Am cars and maybe F-1 and Retro Pro. We had a great time at the last warm-up. Doors will open at 11:00 am. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Miller buddy, this means you. Just Kidding Hope you can make it John. By the way Cap Henry will be busy tomorrow, so maybe someone else will get their first win.

The November race at Skidmarks is looking like it could be a barn burner. Raced Wing Cars there today and the first class was am box 12 spray glue. During warm up time we ran a couple of Retro Can-Am cars and Retro Pro cars around the track. The Can-Am cars were set up to run on the 135 Ft Hill Climb at Holly
tomorrow but were in the 4.1 and 4.2 on the Big King. The retro Pros 1 X12 and 1 Big Dog Powered were in the 3.3 and 3.5 range respectively. and these are not speedway chassis retro Pros they are heavy flat track cars. I know that their are no world records in Retro Racing but if you would like to be the fastest who their ever has been this may be the place to do it. You fast guys these could worth making the trip. Fast Smooth with Great SPOVE Power.

Unfortunately, tomorrow I am finishing some new cars for the Sano.

John,

Due to circumstances beyond my control I am not going to make it to the Sano. I have talked to Mike Swiss and I think he understands the situation . Mike suggested that I get with you and make the trip.

(517) 819-9619 is my Cell I have a new BlackBerry so give me a call, text or e-mail me if there is anything I can do for you during or before the race.

We are going to have at least 1 warm up race at Skidmarks before the November Series Race you will want to make one of those. That track is great but will be the best with a very special style car that I have been working on. Give me a call for the info. Have you built your Retro Pro yet?.

Talk to you soon.

The MRRA held it's second official series race in Holly, MI at Slot Car Crossing on October 24, 2010

Racing Action was hold on the very nice and smooth 135' Hillclimb. The Track is actually pretty easy to get the hang of, except for the first flat corner after the bank. LOL

First up was MRRA Flexi-GT class, all rules follow the IRRA except we use the JK Hawk 7 motor. And unfortunely I missed the racing action due to lunch. LOL But here are the results

1st Brandon Jarman 383 3.506
2nd Rich Attee 373 3.555
3rd Dave Mountz 351 3.609
4th Jeff Sarkisian 324 3.621

Brandon's Car: Difalco, Chevron GT, JK 21, Kamen Spur, ARP Pinion, Red Fox Guide, Alpha Rears, JK Fronts

Rich's Car: DR-40, JK GT 40, JK 11, Pro-Slot Spur, ARP Pinion, Red Fox Guide, Alpha Rears, JK Fronts

Dave's Car: Difalco, GT Coupe, JK Cheetah 21, 38 Spur, 13 Pinion, Red Fox Guide, Alpha Rears, JK Fronts

Next up was F1

I put 2 laps on the field in the first lane and never looked back. Mike ran in 2nd with Rich close behind til the 5th lane Larry and Brandon would race for 4th the whole way to the end.

1st Cap Henry 345 3.893
2nd Rich Attee 330 4.001
3rd Mike Chmielewski 327 3.857
4th Brandon Jarman 314 3.956
5th Larry Langdon 307 4.113

Cap's Car: Carsteen, Red Fox Cooper, Crutchfield built R-GEO Victory, 29 Crown, 7 Pinion, Parma Guide, Treated JK Rears, JK Fronts

Mike's Car: Difalco, O/S Cooper, VanPeenen Chassis, Parma Crown, ARP Pinion, Red Fox Guide, Brand X Rears, JUNK Fronts

Next up was Can-Am

Right off the start Dennis and Mike would race for the lead with Rich and I racing for 3rd. Greg and Brandon would race for 5th as Larry struggled. Dennis would pull a 1 lap lead in heat 2 and ran away with the race. I'd start to reel Mike in with Rich in tow. Rich and Mike would race for 3rd til heat 5 when Rich begun to pull away. Dennis stripped a Crown with 30 seconds to go in the last lane, but I fell 1 lap short of catching him

1st Dennis Pennington 347 3.734
2nd Cap Henry 346 3.775
3rd Rich Attee 344 3.829
4th Mike Chmielewski 336 3.778
5th Greg VanPeenen 333 3.786
6th Brandon Jarman 304 3.948
7th Larry Langdon 235 3.950

Next up was Retro Pro, The MRRA uses the same rules as ORS except we run .015 front clearance

Retro Pro basically was the Big Mike show. He easily had the race won til a fatal wreck on the top straight destroyed his car. Rich would pass me while I struggled with my lightweight car on the short track, and Greg just didn't have enough motor with his Big Dog against the 12's.

1st Rich Attee 367 3.455
2nd Cap Henry 361 3.299
3rd Greg VanPeenen 350 3.672
