Keep up the good work and information coming in the future.
Maybe next time Dennis can put some numbers on his one color special..... that way he won't get "Hershman" treatment.

Thank you. Great job on your first race report.
Can't wait for the next race at Skidmarks. Going to race Box Stock there this Saturday. I will be taking the Micro Pod Retro Car and we will see how fast we can go with a car that is built and geared just for that track. I am sure Mike will have The Short Retro Rocket car with the correct body and geared correctly.
Jacob,
Cars using that chassis run between 104 and 106 grams, They work really well on slick tracks or flat tracks.
Ron,
You and some of the other Ohio hot shoes should try to make the race at Skidmarks it should be a history maker. Fast, fast fast!
Regards All,
Greg VanPeenen

3 Hours there 6 to 8 hours to race and 3 back home

I would like to thank Dennis Pennington owner of Slot Car Crossing for hosting MRRA Series race number 2. Dennis was also the winner of the Can-Am race. We tried, but could not find another date in October to run this race so it would not conflict with The Sano, but it was not possible. Due to this and other circumstances Mr. Swiss we were unable to come to Chicago. Looks Like we missed a great race.
Even though we had a spirited discussion about Retro Pro motors, We all had a good time racing. Several of us went out to eat after the race and had a great time bench racing and reliving old times.
Flexi Racers. The Retro Flexi Coupe car that I loaned Brandon has won every Retro Flexi race we have had Warm ups and Series Races by no less then 10 laps. I challenge any Flexi Racer to come to our next race and beat this car. Rules are simple any stamped steel flexi chassis, 100 grams min. weight, IRRA legal coupe body, and 5/8 front wheels touching the track. The first person that can beat this car will win a New Hawk 7 Motor and a Coupe body painted by the world famous Charlie Monroe.
Kit is the OCC race the day before The Skidmarks Speedfest at HMS Speedway. If so I think some of us would try and make it. Will you have the King Track up and running.

Are there 2 Retro Series running in Michigan?
Rick,
There is only one traveling Retro Racing Series in Michigan and that is the MRRA. We are running two races each at three Raceways, Skidmarks in Flint, Slot Car Crossing in Holly, and M&T Raceway in Michigan Center. We were going to run at two more raceways but due to a nasty on going situation between Raceway Owners here in Michigan it didn't work out and that is all I will say about that here.
We hope to add one or two more tracks in south east Michigan for our MRRA Spring Series.
If you guys would like a crack at the fastest laps ever turned try to make it to Skidmards November 21st. If the fast guys show up it should be a history maker.
If you would like more info PM me.

Greg VanPeenen

Sorry to hear this Greg. The success of any series is the more the merrier and if each track can just get 3 racers to ,you have a nice base when you get the local interest stirred up. Everyone profits from more participation. Better racing and bigger bottom line.it

Hopefully since this is the beginning of the 2010-11 season, differences can be set aside, for the better of the racers and allow ALL the racers to enjoy a great season of retro?
Who knows, I ain't one of the fast guys but the boys from Flint always came to R-Geo for my races, I would like to race with them again and see them again on their home turf. I'll see if its doable............

The MRRA (the original and the only touring Retro Racing Series in Michigan) in conjunction with the SKIDMARKS Raceway crew presents MRRA Series Race #3. The Michigan Retro Fest.
All racing will be contested on the G8 Gerding King Track, powered by Spove. F-1 and Can-Am will run under IRRA rules. Retro Flexi Coupe will run under MRRA rules (IRRA rules with Hawk 7 Motors). For this race only racers running Retro Flexi Coupe may opt to run sealed Pro Slot Puppy Dog motors. Retro Pro will run Ohio Retro Series/MRRA rules X12 arms max.
Track voltage will be set at 13.8 Volts, Braid is .005 Down. Track will be cleaned and spray glued. The track has been cross sanded in the turns and rubbers up quickly. Tires medium wonder rubber. You will probably be able to run fast laps on this track. But it will take a skilled driver to go really fast.
Will we see 3.0's or better in Retro Pro?
Will we see 3.7's in Can-Am?
Will we see 3.9's in F-1?
Will we see 3.5's in Retro Flexi Coupe?
Will the wing car guys beat the Retro Guys on their home track?
Be there and see what happens.
Track is located at 230 S. Averill, Flint, Mi. 48506.
Track will Open Saturday November 20th 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM for test and tune. Sunday November 21st (Race Day) Track will open at 9:00 AM. Tech opens at 10:30 AM racing Starts at 11:00 AM. Classes will run in the following order.
Retro Flexi Coupe
F-1
Can-Am
Retro Pro
Who all is up for some fast fun in beautiful Flint Mi. Seeing old racing buddy's and doing some Retro Racing.
See Ya at the Races

Two days left before MRRA Series Race #3 at Skidmarks.
Test and Tune on Saturday, RACING on Sunday. Should be a great time running on the G8. Smooth, fast, clean power what more could we ask for.
Come and be a part of slot car history as we run the first ever non wing car race to be held at this great facility. This is one of the fastest tracks in the world and we are lucky to have it here in Michigan.
Lets show the Skidmarks crew our support and thanks for this opportunity to run Retro Cars at their Raceway.
No matter where you are from or what series you race you don't want to miss this race.
See ya at the races.

I finally have the 18 band board and the new 6-position brake pot!
Hopefully, this will be better than the 10 band configuration.
Does anyone have hotel info?
