Group 27 Dick Pelletier-379 (284 lap pace for 3 minutes)
Pro G7 myself-500 (300 lap pace for 3 minutes)
Dick P TQ'ed Semi-pro G7 with a 3.38 on one timing system.
IIRC, John Pierce TQ'ed Pro G7 with a 3.5 or a low 3.6
on the other timing system.

IIRC, John Pierce TQ'ed Pro G7 with a 3.5 or a low 3.6
on the other timing system.
Going by the Korford "Nats" ad...... page 17...... PA TQ'ed for the Gr 7 race.
However the Warm UP Gr 7 race was much faster...... in the tech sheets the fastest qual lap listed was a 3.561 485 laps.
The race report for the warm-up says PA Watson cut John Pierce by a full tenth. No times listed from qualifying

To add to Jeff's and Ron's posts.
I qualified 3.86 and raced out of the Consi's.
I never held any qualifying records at Georgia Hobby.
P.A. TQ'ed the warm-up(with zero practice laps on the track)
but I'm pretty sure Pierce was TQ in the "real" race.
His 3.5? "doesn't show" because he didn't make the main.
I don't think there is any reference to who TQ'ed in the text of
Scale Auto Racing.

Other than the "Koford Sweeps the Nats" ad..... no there is not.

Possibly John was TQ after the first round.
Also, IIRC, PA went something like 3.35 in the warm-up,
I'm 99% sure, with the timing system Dick P went 3.38 with in Semi-Pro.

Old age strikes again!
Swiss did NOT TQ. My bad.... too many years, too many beers! I don't remember who TQ'ed for sure, but I sure thought it was PA. It could have been Pierce, though.
It was also getting late in the week, and a lot of memories from the Nats kind of run together after 7 days of almost 24 hour days working at the raceway!
I do remember the purple toilet water the Camen guys installed, and all the "No Koford" stickers that showed up stuck to everything. I think someone even stuck one on Stu's back!

for turning the fastest lap on that track during the Nat's.
Again, IIRC, it was $1 a lap to try and the nickname of the track
could be construed as a pejorative term.
It sounded like fun but I never got out there.
I was too busy pitting for Rich DeMondo & Jerry Kulich in the lower classes
and eating chicken wings from a trailer in a shopping center parking lot.

That would have been Mo-Jo's Wings... They are still around, but not in the trailers anymore. Good wings though!

There was some recent E-Mails going back between PA and myself so I asked him.
His reply:
I remember. I did at the Warm-Up race but not the Big Race.
Regardless of the "Who TQ'ed and who ate what at the race?" thread drift,
the times and lap totals Peter posted just show what I think most people already believe,
while the equipment has gotten better over the years,
the decrease in lap times and the increase in lap totals on Kings are based
more on larger radius, more banked(other than the big bank)
easier to drive, tracks.
Most notable is Rich Demondo TQ'ing Int. 15, with ceramic mags,
a longer stack arm and a wire chassis, with a time faster than
the fastest C12 race (I assume) lap, with cobalt mags, a shorter
stack 50T29 arm and (I assume) a one pc. steel or aluminum chassis.

Like I usually say...... it's the tracks that are faster...not the cars. With that said... I would think that Modelville's mile is probably a tad quicker than the mile in Atlanta due to it's new surface. Not knowing what power differences there may be...... the new surfaces "has to be" faster than a stock American surface. Not knocking the Atlanta track in any way...it was in supurb shape for it's age.
It's like running my Can-Am retro car at Tom Thumb's on the American King and going 4.76 and 285 laps and taking the same car to TR's Gerding King and running 4.1 laps and 331 laps.... it's not the car.... it's the track. Both tracks are excellent...just two different "beasts".

It is interesting to see how things have changed, I really meant to put in post #273 that the time of 7.5 seconds was what was capable back in the day. I was a little off as it appears that the
fastest times were high 8 second range. I remember in Framingham we were around 7.5 in 1973.
See the attached page on the Arco 33 from Columbus that took place in late1967. There was ample power but this was a long time ago. This is from MC&R January 1968. It seems that most of the pictures never came out, too bad.

The American Royal Black came out great and we have run IRRA Retro's and 1/32 Eurosports and it is just a very cool track. Since it has magnetic braid we tried a Slot-it Chaparral and it was an amazing
experience. This is a very smooth track since both Hasse and Gary Gerding worked on it.
We now have two original and rare American tracks from the 60's. One of the pictures is of my good friend Gary Gerding fussing of the details on the Royal surface.
I HAVE ALSO DUPLICATED THE BELLS FOR THE LEGS SO NOW THE LOOK OF BOTH THE SOVEREIGN AND THE ROYAL WILL BE
COMPLETE. IT IS GOOD TO OWN A MACHINE SHOP. VISIT WWW.LENTROS.COM THIS IS WHAT FUNDS MY BAD HABITS.
Come and visit sometime.

So the big question is that since Peter owns a very high tech machine shop, can he make a ringer ball to allow those bells to ring after a big race? LOL

I remember running on a Sovereign in Columbus, OH, in the mid-'60s. The raceway was Tom Thumb East on Hamilton Road. IIRC, I was running a MPC Dodge Charger with the Dyn-O-Can motor. A loooooong walk to put your car back on.
I don't remember, does the Soverign have the "car catcher" on top of the bank like a King?
I remember that place, I was running at Parma in the 60's and it was the first BIG race I ever went to. My dad drove me down there, I think it was a arco or maybe a cobra race. I remember John Cukras was there and was blowing motors left and right and Pete Zimmerman was winding arms in the pits. I don't remember anything else other than my car was bad and it took forever to complete a lap.
I didn't see that post, it was an ARCO 33 race, cool.
