Saw them at work when I visited last night. Gary says it will take about two weeks.Gerding and Silky are due back in Ashland in about a week. Can't wait to see them start working on the Purple.

Last night Peter Lentros mentioned that he's taking many photos. I'm guessing that he may be saving many of them for a special article and maybe a special web page for the Sovereign.
It should be noted that Gerding and Silky are not working on the replacement of the damaged purple Formica. That will be done by someone who specializes in that area. It will be a job to find that matching purple color from the early '60s. I'm sure they will find it in some warehouse somewhere.

I saw one once through a locked front door to a track in Tuscaloosa, AL, in 1966. I was in a junior high school band and we had gone to Tuscaloosa for a band contest. The contest was over and we were all bussed to a cafeteria near there. I remember we had finished our lunch and were walking back to the bus when I noticed we were walking in front of a slot car track. It was closed but I remember looking in through the front door glass and seeing the track in there. It was so big, it was the only track in there. Almost 45 years later the memory is still pretty fresh.

Congratulations to Gerding and Silky for a real fine job bringing this track back to life after all these years in storage.
Congratulations to Peter Lentros who purchased the track and found a new home for it.
This is a fine day for 1/24 scale slot racing.

them.
Right now this a thread is about someone saying they or they know someone who is dating a clone of Marilyn Monroe but not offering any pics.

Yes, that would be way cool.Wow! What a track. A Retro race on this track would be monumental. I believe it would attract every slot racer whether they race Retro or not. The R4 is a huge success every year due directly to the track its held on and its history. To hold a major national Retro race on the Purple Mile would be a no-brainer. I`m in.
I am, but I am not sharing any pics... LOL.Right now this a thread is about someone saying they or they know someone who is dating a clone of Marilyn Monroe but not offering any pics.
