and only 1,950 miles away (for me)... one day and nine hours according to Google maps. Guess it might be a while before I get there... maybe never.
Awesome job, guys The important thing is that the track has been preserved and restored to service.
I hope you get a ton of support from racers in that part of the country.

Ben, how do you drive that square donut with only one blip, regardless of how much glue is down? I drove the Framingham, MA, Sovereign from 1969-1975 with wing cars and know it took more.with enough glue, its just another one blip track...

Ben, if you were one-blipping the Purple, I would have loaned you one of my motors!

Do I need to send him my Nats trophy? It's one of the few I've bothered to keep.

I don't believe the lap was turned in competition but it was the fastest on that track.
I think you should keep your trophy.

While I'm flattered Jeff somehow associates hot lapping fast with being faster than me, I think I qualified about 15th or 16th at the '90 Nats. I know I had to run out of the Consis. A lot of guys went a single lap faster than me.
Also of note, Georgia Hobby had two different timers. Dick P qualified way faster (3.37?) in Semi-Pro with the "hot" timer on Saturday than John Pierce TQ'd (3.52?) in Pro on Sunday with the "slow" timer.
Back to the Mile in Mass...
It looks terrific. If there ever was a situation for all the Retro heavy hitters to have a showdown where none of them would have a home track advantage, this would be it.

Hopefully that will happen some day, Mike.
