Womps are a good idea for guys like Mark Wampler to run Breakout.
Womps are not a good idea for Slotcar Racers.

Womps teach you how to tune and how to drive around what you can't tune. Womps make racers without breaking your budget.
What do you mean "you can't tune"?
Dad takes his new misbehaving Womp home and the kids get ahold of it, and step on it. Dad brings it back to the track and it drives much better! That's tuning!

I would like to see womp chassis come from the factory with a hole near the motor endbell
to make it easy to lube that end of the motor. Like in the attached picture...
The hole has to be a little forward of the motor so that a luber needle can reach
the end of the motor shaft... It makes it so much easier to lube the motor.

You shouldn't be oiling that side of the motor --oil it once before the race and not again!

Having a hole in that location makes it easier to oil the front bushing if you only do it once or a hundred times. I've seen many organizations running womp & Sprints Plus chassis allow a lubricating hole in that location. They usually limit the size of the hole.

Especially when you consider that some of the parents that bring their kids are not mechanically inclined.
Once you've had a womp-womp with that lubricating access hole, you will be surprised how convenient it is.

Womps are how many racers learned to be racers. I'll bet you $1 that most good womp drivers could drive a box 12 at a reasonable speed on a king given 5-10 minutes practice and instruction whereas many (not all) wing racer "pros" would crash a womp on a flat track il less than a minute. Drivers have to be able to DRIVE....Womps are a good idea for guys like Mark Wampler to run Breakout.

1st problem: that would be modifying the chassis...
2nd problem: that would be removing weight on the bottom and raising the CG and lightening the car...bad ideas on a womp.
3rd problem: Having that large a hole there (particularly on the Parma chassis) makes it easier to bend WHEN you crash it.
4th problem: the womp and thumper chassis need weight in that spot to help the car handle. If weight is allowed, that's where it should go.
1st problem: That's why I said they should come that way from the factory. They could allow you to put lead in the hole as long as it is smooth underneath.
2nd & 4th problem: We usually put the weight a bit farther forward, but you could put the same hole through the weight. The amount of weight removed is not much.
3rd problem: We reinforce them with piano wire. There's a picture at the link below.

I'll have to get some pictures of just the chassis with the extra hole.
Our track owner said that technically the holes are not legal, but he let us race.
It should at least be an option for parents who want to make it easier to oil them.
As you pointed out, it isn't a performance advantage, it just helps the Moms
who have a hard enough time fixing their kids' slot cars. Some Dads aren't
all that handy either, but most moms are not used to caring for mechanical things.
It'll help keep oil off of the track from people who end up putting too much oil
when they can't get it in the right place - and it makes it easier for the kids
who are ready to start learning how to care fore their cars themselves.

Today we had a grown man crawl on his hands and knees under the lead-on to go into the infield to fix a fallen off car in the dead man (on a King Cobra). Parents sometimes need help with knowing how to slot car race.
