The amount and type of flex can be incorporated into the main rails.

As far as an actual tapered rail, I have never seen one. Rails can be made stiffer or softer by variations in the amount and length of braces. There are many ways to tune a build. Look at the braces and pan management in this F1:

DSC00165.JPG

Not saying it's good, just using the amount and type of main rail appendages as an example of how they influence the stiffness.. Rails can be stiffer in one location, and less in another. Everybody does it.

As others have said, I don't think there's any tapered wire out there. How were you planning to use it? There might be another way to build the same movement, flex, or whatever effect you wanted to try it for.

If tapered piano wire were needed or desired, it would be very easy to just make it. All you'd need would be:

-A Dremel or similar tool and some cutoff wheels
-An electric drill (battery or AC)
-A selection of sandpaper

That would be the scratchbuilder's approach, and this would be a heck of a lot easier than a lot of other routine scratchbuilding chores.

TAPERED piano wire??? The question would be a resounding "why?" Is the music that bad that it needs new trickery to sound any better?

According to several of your previous posting, you did. It is not a crime of course but... when did you quit? :)
