Hey Guys, thanks for all the encouragment. Jay and myself are really looking forward to puting on a great race. We just started to talk about the format. With the help of Barney and Noose I think this Proxy race will be Awesome and I'm sure we won't disapoint the builders. Of course it will be live on Ustream and it will also be taped if you can't view it live. We were checking out pictures of the cars yesterday....WOW they're just beautiful!!!!

If you guys would like to see how we stream live video go to www.Ustream.com and search for Speedzonenj.

Thanks, Mike Iles and Jay Kisling

I've spoken to the couriers today and the Dynamic Challenge cars are due to be delivered to me tomorrow afternoon.
I'll do a quick check over of the cars and report back here in about 30 hours from now. A detailed inspection with photos will follow later.

Hummm.

Pointless delay alert:

Profuse apologies from Davies Turner's Dartford depot.
Paperwork was issued for the delivery today of the Dynamic cars yesterday but the box, somehow, never made it on to a van. Embarrassed man (I can sound stern on the phone if I need to!) says the box will be delivered mid-morning tomorrow.

I told him there were two dozen people around the globe sitting on the edge of their seats awaiting news of the box's contents. Reasonably sure it'll get here tomorrow ...

Tell Mr. Turner to stop lollygagging and place it on the lorry gently. ;)

Thanks for the update Steve, . they're are not lost yet.
Knowing of the global interest in this package, might a call to the fireworks squad or a hostage negotiators be in order :heat: :laugh2:

I hope one that is broken doesn't belong to me! :)
Of course I don't wish that on anyone. Just saying, cause the motor already let go once in my entry. Fingers crossed it's all minor issues.

Okay guys, I'm late for racing Retro F1s at the Circuit of Shattered Dreams but I've checked ALL the Dynamic cars and there are a few with issues that will need addressing before the race. Oscar's car is ABSOLUTELY FINE with a missing body pin and a (perhaps) slightly tight gear mesh. A few of the cars seemed tight to me and some were a sloppy mess.

Issues: Ralph's motor needs a push to start indicating either sticky brushes, melted comm solder or, worst case, a dead pole. I propose to pull the motor tonight if the problem isn't simple and giving it to John Secchi to fix.

Bob Steere's body has fresh looking severe body damage but it looks patchable and the rest of the car is fine.

Jairus' car has a bent rear axle and totally worn out braids.

John Havlicek's car has a worn out crown gear.

Small other issues but those are the main ones. Photos and complete run down tomorrow.
I'm outa here!

Steve-a-roonie Kempson

I checked all the cars yesterday in four main areas: ground clearance, gear mesh/rear axle adjustment, body damage and I ran each car briefly on my power supply to make sure they at least turned over properly, Listing my results for each car is going to be repetitious but each owner will want to know, I guess.

The first batch will be the problem cars I mentioned yesterday, although several other cars have minor issues that can be addressed in time.

Oscar Morales car.

Clearance was okay, the gear mesh felt slightly tight to my way of doing things (Parma gears and angled pinions in retro racing) but that might be just the way vintage gears work best? There were a few small cracks and a body pin was missing. No problem there. The motor ran okay.

Bob Steere's Roadkill: Good clearance, another gear with absolutely no backlash and it ran okay under power. Major body damage. Ouch!

Jairus' Replitron Dyna-slider-rider: clearance seemed low at the rear and along the sides, not enough to drag on the track yet but with a few more races to run it might be time to get new rubber on there. No gear backlash again. Is that really how you guys run them? The body has a small crack at the front, the motor runs okay although the braids are shot but the rear axle isn't as straight as it might be. Needs a new one of them for sure.
It also appears to have evaded my camera last night. I'll put that right tomorrow.

John Havlicek's car: the front of the chassis (which protrudes past the guide if you recall) and the front body work have been dragging on a track somewhere. That might have to be tweaked somehow. The rear clearance is fine. The pinion and the contrate were not actually touching which is definitely not how things are done. I can replace the crown gear, John, and I'll have to check the motor mounting to make sure that it hasn't moved at all. The motor runs okay and there is a small body crack at the rear.
