Absolutely love the look of this. Kind of a shame that Mattel rolled out the Hotwheels in 1968 instead of two or three years earlier, because then we might have seen a slot thingie of Twin Mill.

Come to think of it, Twin Mill would probably be an awesome body for one of the thingie shops to do in lexan or PETG...

Justin... I LOVE the idea of a Twin Mill slot car! With two motors too?

WELL DUH, OF COURSE! :laugh2:

So many projects and soooo little time.

It would be cool if someone with mold/modelling experience could make a "V-8 slipcover" for a Mabuchi that could be used on open motor builds. This would be probably not exactly scale, but you paint it, install it over the motor, cut out the supercharger scoop to provide airflow for the 'Buchi (functioning sorta like "real life"!...sorta) and you got a super neat-o looking, and functioning ride!

Well, the Twin-mill will most likely look like a cross between these two builds.

I will try my best at carving/creating the body and maybe I can get someone to vac-form a few examples. But for the motor details, I'll prob turn to my hundreds of model kits and swipe a set of hemi's out of a twin engined dragster kit John. I think your idea of mounting the motors ON TOP of the Mubuchi motors is a good one! But I want the details and chrome of cast parts you just cannot get with vac-forming. But then the motors would be a long ways ahead of the rear axle, right? Maybe I should tie them together and drive a centeral drive shaft located inside a structural backbone to the rear axle... hmmmm? Good use for that Tradeship differential now.

But I am getting ahead of myself. Got to finish this Deora and the '55 Chevy and the GT40 projects first! ;)

Sorry for the bad pic. I was hoping the direct sunlight would pick up the metal flake in the paint.
Painted 5 coats (color sanding inbetween) of a custom mixed lacquer candy lime metalflake (which kept clogging up my airbrush) followed by 2 wet coats of Tamiya clear.
Now it sits 24 hours in order to gas out before wet sanding yet again prior to receiving two or more wet coats of clear.
If all goes well, shouldn't need any polishing compound. (fingers crossed)

FYI, The Deora project is complete! Finished it up last night and taking pictures this morning.

However, (and I know this information is worthless without pictures) my computer suffered a massive hard-drive failure Tues night. As of this time I cannot post pictures. Heck, I am only able to communicate and read my mail because this machine has three hard drives installed and I managed to load a another O.S. program on the backup drive and switch that drive to the primary and volia! I am back... but with-out my graphics programs. :(

Picking up a new H.D. later today and so far the old H.D. is still readable but fails when large batches of files are moved. Otherwise I might have to take it to a professional. But... hey, I am in control of my own destiny.. .right?

Pictures later! :)

Wish I had your optimism Bob.

Everything is now painted. Window glass is tinted with Tamiya clear blue to match the little Hot Wheels car. Body has received many coats of Tamiya clear with wet sanding between to the point that I am sick of it. Good enough!
Interior has been painted with a dark grey to match the H.W. car and now time for assembly.
:)

Posted Image

And all assembled.
Posted Image

Boards are attached with double sided tape. The rest of the details are epoxied solid.
Posted Image

Posted Image

Sorry Bob, no replica shiny aluminum chassis pan.
I just couldn't get it done in time and with the Dynamic frame hanging so far below the rockers it would not have looked correct anyway.

Just looked at this thread for the first time today. I must say this is one of the nicest slot car builds I have ever seen. Just because Jairus makes it look easy, IT IS NOT. So much work goes into the planning and then finding out most things you thought would work do not when you go to mock everything up. Also, so much time is spent getting a model body to look like this. I will also say that you captured the look of the original "Anti Freeze" green absolutely perfect ! What you have done here could only be done by a hand full of people in the world. Some are great model builders, some great chassis builders but very few have the talent to do both. That side shot is breathtaking. Just wonderful all around.

I got caught up in a build-off on the Model Cars forum.

Deadline for the build-off is October 24 and the finished product will end up on eBay this fall.

That'll make a nice addition to someone's collection.

How did you go in the 'build-off'?
