I have never heard of this. Is this necessary on modern BB's ?
Too late anyway, my new Slick 7 BB's are already soldered home and I ain't changin' 'em.

Terrific job on the chassis.
Good luck with the rest of the build slapping it all together.

I had to skip a lot of steps in Stage V due to parts on order. So, I moved on.
Stage VI calls for a 5 thou goop shield.
Where can I find 5 thou brass sheet ? The thinnest I have is 15 thou.

If I may make a recommendation here, unless you can get a genuine Faas or Parma gear sleeve, do not use the K&S brass tubing to make one because its diameter is too small and you are going to end with a wobbly gear. Instead use K&S aluminum tubing because it appears to be larger and also tighter on the axle. This is what I use for my retro cars crown gears and it has worked well.

Understood, but then how do I solder it to the axle ?
With great skill and perseverance.
