I wonder if the asphalt is melted.

That bike wouldn't do 150mph if you dropped it down a mineshaft!!!

Maybe "gouged out" tonight??
Maybe "fueled out" tonight??
I would think there may be hazardous material issues with all the jet fuel leaked out.

Someone should tell JPM he does not get extra points for hitting the safety vehicle and he shouldn't take everything he learned by watching "Days of Thunder" to heart
It could have happened to any of the drivers.....not JPM's fault....... he knows something is not right...the pit crew looks....can't seem to find anything...sends him back out...... he runs the car up to speed....one..... to keep up with the field and not lose much position....two....to figure out what could be wrong with the car at speed or close to it.
Either way.... all drivers do this and have done this.
Yep there was something wrong with the car...... what exactly it was...well they may never figure that out now.

It was rained out yesterday.

Yes... the "kitty litter" is contaminated with jet fuel. You can't trash that but this is the case when they clean up oil and gasoline liquids anyways.
They even need to capture that Tide/water wash they're using.... the "kitty litter" pile will get bigger for Safety Kleen to haul off.
NASCAR has shown it can throw a TRACK call when it's really necessary: no debris call on this one.... just fire and heat!

Only 3 or 4 laps to go.
I wouldn`t be surprised to see another wreck before it`s over.

I too figured the asphalt was toast, and the rain appeared to be coming...
Entertaining to say the least.
Re: the asphalt. Those new polymer based mixes are something else. When we repaved Jennerstown when I was there I immediatly saw the difference in grip.
I used to use jet truck exhibitions as a sideshow for the racing events, and was always worried about the surface being damaged if a malfunction ocurred.
After what I witnessed at Daytona last night, I didn't need to be concerned... LOL
