A "Fresh from Florida" built true Ram-buchi in a Champion can. All NOS parts.
This found it's home in a Dynamic chassis under a very sweet Chappy body.
I hooked it up to the reverb and said "Talk to Me"

Remember grade school:
"Hey see that girl over there"
- "yeah, what's her name"
"Joy"
- "Oh Joy"?
"No Almond Joy
- "why do you call her that"?
"She has no Mounds"

LOL... it literally did flicker the lights that are plugged into the same power strip as the power supply.
Those were full (11.75) volt bursts by turning the supply on like a drag start. The highest I saw was a 14.82 amp bounce.
Pretty Freaky.

Could be used for as an open class motor in an anglewinder!
How'd the comm connections hold up?
Neat looking wire wrapping btw

Thanks PE ....
I wound that one in my hand, didn't set up the winder.
Solder joins seem fine. It didn't throw a wire in testing.
It gets Hot fast....

Took some serious 'tuning' but it now lets out the scream.
The arm was not happy in the shimmed ARCO 707 set-up.
I switched the can to an un-shimmed ARCO 703, step cut the brushes and added more spring.
It sounds so much happier.... and it runs super cool now for a 20/24.
so.... I balanced it, then tied and epoxied then rebalanced again after curing.
It's totally 'sick' now. I think it's going to need a 'bars car' to hold this 'thing' down.
What a crazy howell...

If geared right and in the right frame that 20/24 should be brutal!

It's a 'repurposed' Champion big block in it's vintage colors ....run hard and thrown in the box 50 years ago.
"I love you just the way you are"
Mongrel #703-24 sings a note.
I static balanced it twice on a Rand. Did a ground slot on two poles for the pre epoxy balance and a file edge in the slot to do the final balance.
Wanna see it ?

Thanks PE,
Stock 707 Cycolac EB and Champion springs with hoods aligned and soldered.
The 20/24 arm runs so much cooler in this set-up that the 'Drag Use Only' label is not required.
I'm keeping the 'distressed' look for this motor. That's vintage....

I'm thinking.... oh $#!^ boy, a serious challenger will put that 20/24 to the test.
We'll be up against a Monte O wound Foamy built motor ... only runs 70mph.
Peace of cake.

The LUNAR, last years Big36D is on the jig all day getting a nice long set of wheelie bars this year. Ran good as a no-bars but it blew the small hub .300s of till 1/4 track due to the tall rubber soaking up a ton of lighter fluid and launching before dry. The wheelspeed kept it from the dreaded pop...
Then 703-24 goes in, and ....wheeee.... we'll see what happens...
I'll blow the SOB up, hit the floor, the window or wall trying.....
Hopefully it won't have any evil "Nasty Habits"

That BIG 36D ran very respectfully, MY Wound vs. two Monte O' Wound motors.
I can see it now.... we got a 'motor war' going on in this class.
To be continued ...
Now where did I put those 36D buchi-blanks and LeGanke comms....
And... it was static balanced no comm cut.
That 'ain't gunna cut it' next time. See ya at the line
