There isn't much 'building' that can be done to this one. Can't rewind it with that 'tab-less' comm. A .091 smaller OD comm would be an option, I don't have any .091 BBs.

Maybe just a stock refresh for this one as it's unique in it's current form. The brush arm design is very nice.

I like to see what makes things tic :wizard:. Been like that forever (almost).

Back in the day this would be 'cannibalized' for donor parts to build a "better" slotcar motor.

Or ... put back together all 'tuned up' to the point it sucks really bad right up until it blows.

There's lil Gator testing the limits again.

Dad comes in the room ...

" What da'hells that smell, what's burning?" :big_boss:

"Nothin' Dad, just a slot car motor experiment Dad..." :to_become_senile:

"Whateva it is go do it outside" :ireful3:

I love the screen, and will 'fit' one in on future motor builds. Maybe a Mura C can ... :D

Maybe a 36d type comm would open up some rewinding options???

So ... The motor just got a freshing up and reassembled as a stock restored unit.

If you look at the arm in the slot it is like wood chipper and sounds like this.

Really ... it is So Much better cleaned, polished and refaced. It Does have scream potential, it has a much more 'crisp response' than I expected.

Not a padlock but ... Kinda reminds me of those old five and dime store cheap stamped jap locks with the super sloppy four tooth flat stamped key. Good for keeping your stuff 'safe' as a kid.

Maybe we need a class for motors that are obviously period-correct, but can no longer be identified??? Here are a few, I assume that they are train motors of some sort.

There are so many cool UFO train motors out there. All train, all cool.

Olympic brass on the bottom, think the next one up might be a KTM, the top un-known.

I just picked up an Olympic and the dual mag centered arm and the 'slot motor style' brushes are nice features.

They look 'padlockey' enough for me.

Saw one on epay searching for Loco motors  :laugh2:

Found some HO locomotive kemtron padlocks, use the X503 arm but smaller motor lams and fully cast endplates & Pittman style brushes .. picture to follow .

Yup ... let's see if I put this 5 lobe brain in this body and put that 7 lobe brain in an Ahearn circular magnet   .... what will happen  :good: or :bomb: .

I need a zapper so bad I can taste it ... like touching a 9v to your tongue and holding it :shok:    :good:

Stop

++++++++++++

Go

So I got distracted by these Atlas motors.

Zoom Zoom .. the used motor out of Scratch, the one in the middle, cleaned comm w/ Ronson then at 2v for 1 miniute..... H! ReVs, .5A @ 6v .. 12v bounces to 1.4A. RPM guess 45-50k nice whistle for an open frame. BB's had it free sounding.

Next ... put one button neo on each side of the plates, bam .... Current draw doubled. 1A at 6v and bounce to 2.4. The brushes were working hard but made the comm look great in the brush track, polished ... not heat, spark, plasma tracked. The rpm sound down to 40-45k.

Potential. :good:
