Paul Bass's ... Kem-Man 5P6v is alive.

Ready?...go for it. :shok:

I'm very impressed. It draws really low amps but its 'one snappy SOB'. It has not been re-zapped, broken in at 1.5v w/ comm drops for 1 hour. Comm was flushed of the 'slurry' and one clean drop added periodically .  It's cleaned re-oiled and ready to go.

It has amazing torque even at 1.5V @ .40 A, it will 'start-up' at like .3v. Full bore bounce SNAPS to full RPM in an instant. It's wild and crazy considering the mass.

I wouldn't even re-zap it. Put it in a car at about 3:1 and .... see ya!

Ah pictures of the Kem-Man weren't showing up on my phone ...now they do :D 6 volt Pittman in a Bronco setup sounds like one of those magic combinations that you can come up with :good:

Looks the part too ... Hmmm still have one of those 7 pole 3 volt RAM arms they made for the Kemtron Mustang and a Mustang setup waiting in the workshop... time to finally see what the hop up arm does in the intended mill !

That is a 6 volt 85 arm in a Mustang set-up. Good combo, really 'punchy'.

So .. I am fairly convinced that the wire color is not specific to a voltage or wire gauge. Have two 'red wire' 85's w/ different wire sizes. This 6V came with tag and the wire is thicker than the other red wire on hand.

Sounds great, very smooth, big torque, good revs for this beast.

Hey thanks Bill. :victory:

I haven't had any issues with those wires in 1000s of laps running them on FCR cars locally and in the Series. I like red and black as that is the industry standard for +/- in low voltage use in other than automotive RV use.

Could you tell us what your problem is with those wires?

While you guys were away :unknw: .. wait a dog gone minute.. that was me that was away.

I was still at it ... LOL

A super "Super Wasp" coming up. Gotta say since the 80s building two hole Mura motors have been a favorite of mine.

Thought this Wasp should look the part.  Got War Paint ? ...LOL

OMG - Ultra-Smooth, Sick Scream, +42 deg is wild timing, she's a little hottie and hot she gets for a 30 wind.

Finished out with ProSlot brushes and Champion (red) Lite springs. BB's have been installed both ends

1.4a @ 3v

1.8a @ 6v

2.1a @ 8v (that's where the neighborhood dogs started howling)

Then I ... kicked it up a notch with what I believe is a Alpha pre-furb... not a re-con. Could be wrong on that but the motor said 'it's right'.  Found some more Rs with this arm. Nothing else changed out.

Better balance and smaller com dia. = (Dogs now howl at lower voltages)

It's RTG.

Note to self - use lint free cloth.

Could you tell us what your problem is with those wires?

The Parma red & black leadwires are brittle & they break easily. They're not stranded copper, probably are tin. They come from Asia on cheap motors, that should tell you something. No other Asian motors come with them installed. I tried them on my flexi about 2000 & broke a new leadwire while leading a race. I ended up third, but haven't used them since. There are too many higher quality leadwire alternatives. I usually buy leadwire in 10' lengths, so it's more economic. Parma once sold a black silicone coated copper leadwire. That stuff was as good as any other on the market. If you've never had problems with their red & black, consider yourself lucky.

I just stripped and did a razor scrape job on one. Tinned copper. Not worth a picture.

Sounds like when you solder them on it 'wicked' up under the jacket. That does make them brittle.

These aren't from 2000, maybe they are better now and you could try then again.

How do you like the screens installed to keep the 'bugs' out.everything else look OK? :)

Maybe they improved over the years, but that don't mean I should try them again. I have quality leadwire from other sources & haven't raced much since the last commercil track in the state closed.  Those screens will help keep things inside too. :laugh2:

True.

Good idea..  I should use them on all my amateur/armature rewinds. Safety First.  :)

I cut the center out of the Olympus brush holder insulator to move the brushes inward to reach the small S16D comm. I think I can make this work. :)

The ProMan goes on the side burner... don't think it will make it in the R&R.

Soo much fun building 26D motors. I forgot how cool they are, and that 'howl' that they make.  :o

Mint 601 'one hole' complete, all NOS except can. Next up, toss up, all new 617 or rebuild Gr-12 :clapping:
