Finished March 2013:

Here's where it all started:

The Mike Swiss Chicagoland Raceway kit car is very cool. I don't know why it turns me on, it just does.

First step for me is, putting all the parts in a big plastic container.  The motor and the plastic parts need to stay in individual baggies to isolate them from damage and attracting small metal parts to the Falcon 2 motor :)

Swiss already did all the hard work, now all I have to do is prep the jig and plan a chassis........ :D

I've been chomping at the bit to get at this little guy all week, stuck at work :ambivalent:

Found a little time to get the inside decals placed and double coated with Faux Glazing Medium.

At this point, it looks like a cigar with some decals on it :laugh2:

Nothing new here......

-JK non-hypoid bracket is precise right out of the bag, ready to go.

-Bracing wires are tinned .047.

-Tube length is 1.550, which gives a total width of 3.125 when the wheels are trimmed and two .020 Slick 7 20 thou spacers are used on each side.

Pablo.

Lookin' good.

I always like the inner wire form detail you add to your brackets.

I studied Manta Ray's build, and copied his guide lead of .250

My math says a jig wheel should be about .890 to provide about .055 clearance.

The tongue was floated flat on top of the .063 chunk of 1 by 1 brass, with zero tilt, so it was easy :)

Also, Manta Ray indicated the correct position of the front brass chunk is at the forwardmost notch in the tongue.  Bingo.

:laugh2:  Thanks !  The funny thing is, I put the decals on the car, then thought, what would be a good color to compliment the decals ?

I thought, White.  Then next day at work, just for fun, I Google Image searched for "Dean Van Lines Special", and guess what ? There was actually a Dean car, and it was white

I have found if I take about three pics, at least one makes the car look good :laugh2:   :dance3:

Now, where is that doggone minitorch ? :D

That's how spring steel comes from the factory to keep it from rusting.

I left it on for the same reason.

You can sand it off, or if you use a strong enough flux, dab some on with a paper towel and wipe it clean.

Thanks Mike.

Am I doing this right ? :D  I have to grin, pretending to be Mike Steube while building this little car

Single pair of .063 wire rails. I think the biggest challenge will be trying to find space to make it heavy enough.  Maybe I need a plate under the bracket.

That what's Ray went with.

There's plenty of room with the tall tires.
