Thanks guys!
I'm looking forward to being able to get accurate lap time on the cars as their being tuned and "hopped up".
Gary showed me how to apply a light spray glue to the track. Of course modern tires work great on the "Loaner" Cheetah-Falcon cars. My old school piles with Paul's Urethane tires work fantastic too.
Lots of fun ahead me thinks
BTW: is Charlie carrying a mouse? LoL!
In big Charlies defense, he's asked me to let everyone know his extended stomach is not normal. You see, Charlies little sister Tiny, our 7 pound mini cat, was hiding under the bedspread the whole time Gary was setting up the track. Charlie ate all her breakfast and lunch.
Tiny's OK with the track now though

Rick, have you taken any time to eat, sleep, shower, go to the bathroom, etc since you got the track?

Hi Doug,
I'm always looking at it. Walking around it, running my hand along the smooth white painted walls. "She's purdy!"
I really need to get my display cases wall mounted and unpack my cars so I can drive them.
But first, I need to get going on my R&C "entry". Jairus and Pablo will be done before I get started if I don't get my butt in gear!

Hi Mike,
The builder said it's a high gloss 2-part epoxy paint.

Good deal guys. I made the right choice then
I've already got the holders and just need to stop building cars and install them

Okie Dokie, I've finally installed my controller holders. I color keyed the lettering to match the lane color
I also, FINALLY, wall mounted my acrylic display cabinets. Here's an interesting picture of 2 empty units reflecting the camera flash a zillion times off the mirrored back:
Here a more conventional shot:
Here's what needs to fit in the cases. I've sold off all but a half dozen of my 1/32 "plasticars" and about half of my 1/24 scratch builts:
The twin cases hold my inline cars. I've arranged them by period. The earliest cars are on the top left and they get newer as you go do down and to the right:
A third case on the other side of the room has my anglewinders. I kept are my PdL and Tony P tribute cars, a pair of Mike and Bill Steube inspired cars and a couple of Oakland Speedway racers. Time to build some more:
One the bottom shelves are a half dozen "modern" cars from my racing days, a modern Tony P built "Starship" and a Rodney built Modified.
Time to build more cars!

Thanks for chiming looking in guys. It's finally coming together.
It was interesting for me to finally unpack my cars and see what I decided to keep. About half of them were sold to pay for the track.
I guess I have a fondness for the early, pre-anglewinder cars. I have 9 R&C sports-GT cars in this case already:
Many of the cars have goofy rear tires as their "real" tires are in the refrigerator.
Anyhow, I'll finish up a few more R&C cars and then I'm itching to build some anglewinders. I've got a TonyP MAR article that's really cool and Dennis Samson sent me some neat goodies for an early AW project car........
So many slot cars to build and so little time!

Some real beauties sitting in those cases Rick Remember reading some of the build threads, although the R&C cars are awesome there's something about those Pro Anglewinders too

Looking great Rick. But are you sure you want a bunch of grubby slot car racers in your house?

Thanks, but so far I'm on my own. There's no interest in vintage slot cars around here.
It is wonderful to be able to turn around from my workbench and immediately test.

a was going ask about the tires for the cars in the display case. i would display my cars but i dont want to have them dry out and flat spot.
could you explain the tires in the fridge. is it like the same as batteries lol. i have mine in there canisters in a zip lock bag.

Mark, I can't answer for Rick, but what I did was put a short piece of wood dowel under each rear end to keep the rear tires in the air, and at the same time, level the car to compensate for the guide flag raising the front ends.

Hi guys,
I'm still gearing my new builds as if I were setting the cars up to run on Eddie's commercial tracks. They can get up a pretty good head of steam on my track as the bank is almost an extension of the straightaway.
As for tires, I don't know if this is the "best" thing to do but I store all my "foam" tires in those air tight plastic tubes. The tubes are marked to identify what's in them. Then they they get grouped by type ("Russkit Wheels". "3/32 Wheels" and "1/8 Wheels") and put in gallon zip lock bags. The bags go into the fridge.
The cars in the display cases that don't run on silicone or urethane tires have their tires replaced with some sort of "display tire". The Iso Grifo is just sitting on it's belly with 4 old spur gears in place of tires
