Those Weldun crown gears are beautiful works of art ! Only ever seen these rare beasts on the bay once...rare indeed...

Great to hear the initial handling report is good Rick, remember reading some of your earlier R&C builds mentioning the tipping over..

Hi Paul,

I use 3M Scotch Brand #5480 Teflon tape. It's crazy expensive so I use it sparingly!  Cut in thin strips it will conform to curves amazingly. For example, the Ford GT rear window. I used one piece of tape to go across the bottom and curve around each side. For the headlight covers, I used a large piece and cut around the outline of the cover with an knife. You can see through the tape to find the body lines.

Awesome , thanks Rick :good:

No wonder you use it sparingly, it is fairly expensive! Worth it though for some crisp lines & no paint bleed.

Superb car Rick, and I'm sure it's going to be a good runner. What's it weigh?

Several of my heavier unorthodox cars seem to work well on today's tracks. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the different cars run.

I'm going to keep the "unorthodox cars" in a separate classification (the "What If" class) from the "real" R&C cars.

Yep, should be very interesting.

I probably mentioned this before, but since starting vintage racing I've noticed that heavier cars seem to work better as a general rule. Haven't seen many lightweights be very effective; this may be due to our no-goop rules, the shorter, flatter twistier tracks in Europe, banning of spongies, more scale tire size, or other reasons, but it's been a pretty clear trend. And unfortunately, the few jaildoor type frames I've tried haven't been very successful, but that may just reflect my lack of tuning skills!
