I bought 5 motors today for the cars I readied for the King track race. Tore Anderson, Howie Ursaner and myself all made the main with these motors. I haven't tried the other 2.   :)

What were those guys doing running motors you bought. Don't you number the motors and make the racers run the motors they buy????? That the way you do it in the land of fruit and nuts. Community motors what a concept.

Greg,

It actually works pretty well. Any marked and numbered motor can be run by anyone. Always rumors of cheating and parking lot motors and such and nothing is perfect but if you look at all the actual racing times of races over several years of hand-out motors the reality is that the racing couldn't be much closer. What's wrong with community motors if they're all the same?

Congrats also to you on providing Matt with the chassis he used to win today!!  :)

Greg,

Your comments are not only false but frankly, I believe them to be dishonest. To begin with, if the first 12 entrants would have each purchased 20 motors,  all others would not have been able to buy one of the 248 the raceway had on hand.
These motors, of which some were already used Friday for the Coupe race, will be mostly re-used today for the F1 race.

Please get real. A total of 239 motors were sold, meaning an average of 4.2 motors per racer, representing an investment of $50.19 per person for the whole racing weekend. Of which 4 new motors are still available for further racing.

Thank you in advance for revising your assumption down to honest reality. Greg, you are apparently a damn good chassis builder, you do not need to make such comments that place a shadow over your reputation.

You right again Philippe,,,,,,some people are crying about a Facebook photo I posted of the 20 TSR motors I purchase for the race and spent 8+ hours breaking, dynoing and sorting.Well in my case I had another racer pay for the motors, and I did the dyno sorting work.We planned to use these motors for 2 classes each, and maybe loan to friends at the track that need help,,,helping others is a blessing.

We also now have plenty of good motors for testing and racing for months to come.At $12 each these motors are a HELL OF A DEAL.Now yes I only finished fifth place in the Can Am A-main,{That Matt Bruce is FAST!!!},,,,but in my case it was NOT for lack of power.

$240 bucks for motors for months to for 2 racers is a great deal,In the 1980s many of us paid $10 for a pair of "Pull-Out" motor brushes to power our 27/open motors.

I want thank my friends Dennis "Foamy" Hill,Allan Reeder,Gary Donahoe,Bryan Warmack and the staff at BPR for all there help…………..now lets all shut-up and RACE!!!………Good luck to you all,Thanks Don Campbell

Buying and prepping hand-out motors for your team of friends is a lot less criminal than one builder handing out a number of chassis to already great drivers to try to cover the main and podium to get his name in the spotlight and try to raise the value of his chassis building to make a name for himself as has been done elsewhere.

The TSR hand-out program works.

That is one reason there are great drivers. They can spend their time on the track instead of at the bench!

I don't see anything "criminal" in getting good drivers to use your chassis' in an attempt to further your chassis-building business. That's just good business sense and good advertising... provided the chassis' work and the fast guys actually use them. LOL  I imagine McLaren and Lola didn't mind filling the field with THEIR chassis' back in the day. Having chassis' ready for one of the biggest retro events of the year is just plain smart.

Bryan,

Thank you for the polite explanation of your hand out motor procedure and congratulations on your fine finishes so far this weekend.

To the other gentlemen I don't make a living building chassis, as I have no need to. How many I build? I have never built 8 to 10 of any chassis ever. Who request them, who runs them, who gets them free, who buys them is no one's business but mine. I can assure you of two things. No one is forced to run them and they are able to win big races when put together by good racers.

To the Frenchman simply, you can do whatever you want with your motor program. It means nothing to me. I was just commenting on what I saw posted on Facebook by one of your racers, who I assumed was an honest fellow. As far as your rude comments, coming from a gentleman like you, are totally surprising and are totally uncalled for.

Good Racing to all, the rest of the Cup and congratulations on the great turn-out.

Twenty FK motors or twenty Puppy Dogs. What is the difference besides cost?

Lets not crap up this thread about a fine event with a motor (or chassis) controversy yet again!

I should be racing NorCal Retro right now but, the 9ers are in the playoffs and I have family in town from Ireland.

That's my excuse and I am sticking to it. :laugh2:

John, exactly right.

Any more posts bitching about motors will be deleted from this thread without notice. Comprende?

And if you have noticed that the Can-Am qualifying post is no longer in the thread, the photographer of that image, which was brought over by a Slotblog member from another board, asked that it be removed and I complied.

Working on restoring the qualifying data from another source...

Can't somebody post some results sheets?

The lack of hard info is frustrating for such a big race.

Cheers
