IMHO there is a place for both types of cars. Us old schoolers will never change completely to plastic cars.
I run with a group that runs mostly 1/32 home set cars from Slot.it, Scalextric, Ninco, and such. But I also run 1/24 on a commercial track. Neither will ever replace the other for me.
This new chassis certainly has a place in commercial racing as a spec chassis. It is easy to set up and does not require any soldering to assemble. And with further development it might become a viable alternative for Retro Can-Am.
Certainly, a "tunnel tub" type chassis is possible with this method of construction. I can tell you that the hot rod class we used to run at Chicagoland was a hoot, and Steve offers a chassis to fit that body, which could be another choice for a spec class.
I am really anxious to see where this technology leads.
