Not sure Bill, but I just learned that you may or may not be able to get a copy at Barnes and Noble.

The Barnes & Noble deal is treated like a whole new publication. They need a hard copy to send through their new title reviews, even though they have carried MCM for years.

Unless, of course, you're one of the big guys, then they usually do digital reviews, and approve mags before they are printed.

That's part of the "How-To" book also, on starting a mag that I'm writing the same time the mag is/was being done.

I'm trying to get the store site set up, something happened to the original store/page, and I haven't been able to update it yet. I'm also trying to get a PayPal sub/script thing set up.

Hard copies at dealers, most all of the hobby shops we have contacted have said yes, is $6.50 a copy

Thanks for your patience.

The best way to get awareness and publicity for this magazine is for Bill Cosby to be found dead tomorrow morning with the magazine rolled up and stuff down his throat. The global media will repeat the name "Slot Car Magazine" a zillion times and everyone will want a copy of this magazine then!

Sorry to be blunt but it would work!

Still working on the subscription site, and also the digital version.

Question for you guys...

What would you rather have:

A downloadable PDF, or a viewable online/electronic version of the magazine, like a FlipBook style, (Zinio is not possible, yet...)

Thanks

Hows the  digital version coming along. Just had a look on your site and for International buyers it will be $54.65USD. Is that including shipping?.

I think it would be a mistake for the editors to completely reject ANY AND ALL wing car information. After all we are in this together. For example the new F Wing car class is becoming very popular. It is as inexpensive as any class considering you can get 3 races out of a set of tires and who knows how many races on 1 motor. (I have 8 on one now and it is still very fast). Many motor, chassis, body building and tuning tips are shared by all classes too. An occasional, well written wing car article with high resolution. photos might not hurt the sales of your new venture. Being exclusive instead of inclusive to all wing car fans would be a bummer.... :dash2:

Maybe. But I still think the question is an important one to answer.

The slot car hobby started out as a "hands on" skill-developing endeavor for youth.  Right?
Most all cars sold back in the day were sold only as kits.
Kids and some adults had to assemble, paint, decal and build the machines in order to drive them. It was an outgrowth of the model car hobby for all intents and purposes. This taught them valuable skills that many eventually used to build their own machines from scratch.
The market flourished.

Wing racing today is dying because it's become nothing more than a pocketbook sport. The person with the most money builds the fastest car and rarely has to do anything more than buy the parts and assemble it. No painting required. Plus, the machines relate to the real world in not one single way shape or form!
Eurosport is not far behind them.

They may be fast but they do not help develop painting or building skills.

Model cars as a hobby, for your information, never died. Slots very nearly did!
Scale racing and Retro are the only things keeping our hobby a viable hobby and I plan to focus on those how-to aspects over all-out speed.

So, no, Eurosport or Wing racing will not be in the mag unless I can see a good reason to focus on them.

Wing racing is making a comeback with a SENSIBLE Gp F class at Marks Model World in Canton Ohio. Over the last eleven weeks their have been almost 150 entries from 33 different racers.

Convince me then.
Write an article with good photos, a well written script and I guarantee it will get in print!
What I have seen from wing racers thus far has been just as I described, boring.  So.... convince me differently.

Purchased the subscription form both of the mags, was wondering when they were going to be shipped.  Any info will be gladly accepted!!  I also made it clear at the time of purchasing that I wanted to be able to get a copy of the first slot car mag that is printed, and I hope that it is included in my annual subscription.   I was hoping to have a copy in my hands by now.

Steve,

I heard back from PCH right after posting my message: in fact they're waiting to receive the magazines from the publisher to post the actual shipping prices and other info.

This is what Scott told me. I will be annoyed if he doesn't have it in stock.

The new magazine is now for sale on the site.

Just checked the PCH website....

"Sorry but this item is currently unavailable.

Please check back at a later stage."

Looks like the 'system' failed.

:(

How do we go about getting a copy of the magazine??

Guys, Guys, Guys.....  The first order of magazines has been placed. We have a reasonable quantity ordered. The magazines have not arrived as on now. The same day they arrive we will update them on the site. Also we will post here and elsewhere that they are ready and in stock.

The mag is being published by a very respected business who has even prominently displayed the first edition on their web page!
So I urge everyone to dig deep for a little patience while new links and inroads are created.
Nobody will be left out... even Jens. But I understand he's a little busy right now... *eyeroll*
