My new version of retro stock.. Handles awesome ,,looks pretty good..decals on inside..I soaked them in a solution of Modge Podge and water...
Windows cut out, drivers net reinforces side and keeps the thumb out , as does leaving a little extra width to the interior to prevent crushing by gorilla handed turn Marshall..image.jpg

Nice job on the window net John.

Good job!

I would be interssted to hear how a stock car with a 3 1/4" track width handles compares to a 3 incher.

Cheers

Thanks guys..It was lots more fun for me to make this type of stockcar knowing there is a much greater choice of body styles to choose, now they all fit and handle on a more level playing field. My thinking is this may help in making this class a little more popular..
I saved my best my best chassis and converted it last of 4. Sure enough it's still the best,,but it went from real good to DAMN..almost Canam good ? Bill the other 3 were much better..
The house shoe body ( Talledaga ) and banana body ( Daytona ) can be mounted with no cutting of fenders at least my mounted that way with same door line..
I used bartos axles either the F1 or Canam depends on the front wheel depth.. Either Chicago Land ,or HVRs..
Yeap Bill the wider platform of the 4.5 chassis being 3.0" With 3.25"= 1/8" added on all 4 corners centers the weight better. With the tall heavy bodies there's not near the roll over effect they had before..Like has been said they needed to be a little loose, not so much now..
Of course cutting out the windows I believe helped a lot . Some with weight but I believe more important with the flex.

I cant see it happening but early 60s Falcon and Nova bodies would be great for this style stocker. As far as I know those bodies have never been produced.

I agree Eddie but the fender wells probably wouldn't fit the 4.5 " wheelbase..but it's still nice to see a variety of bodies to run that handle well and look great..
Everyone had bodies cut in the new version as well as wheelbase adjustment in Cookeville,Sat.
.thanks guys..
