I hear that! Closest track to us is 2 hours now.......After being used to walking out of the back room and testing anything, anytime, this sucks!....

I'm a very lucky man. My home track is about one minute away in a car. Its about five on my bicycle, maybe four.
Riding a bike to the Slot Track. Now that's "Retro".

I used to walk, in Santa Rosa, CA; hour & a half each way. We carried smaller slotboxes in '64.

I wrap up a couple retro chassis. Put them in one of my many crown royal bags and ride to the track. Lol.
My buddy who started back up racing was just talking about how we would ride our bikes as kids to the track. Put the box on the handel bars and pedal away.
Hey JC, we finally replaced Jack A$$. No more getting jacked! Ha-ha.

Just one in Santa Rosa ca. ~63-65, moved from town center behind our two movie houses alla way out to the new Montgomery Village, atop our only teen club, "The Spot" as I recall; hot acts would barnstorm through, doing a 20-minute set & then the local bands would fill out the evening. One race we were serenaded by the Knickerbockers blasting "Lies" thru the floorboards, & on another occasion I snuck down to see Them, with Van Morrison looking utterly disgusted at his present lot in life; they phoned in like four numbers and split.

I like the Chevelles. Are they O/S bodies?
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

My 66 Chevelle which I raced on the tri-oval at Fastlane in Evansville, Indiana before they closed.
IRRA stock car rules with the exception of cut out wheel wells. They brought back memories of short track racing I watched as a kid.

Interesting thread... I have built 3 of these cars since 2009, only one has ever been raced. No one where I live is willing to try race retro, although some think it is a good Idea. I am well known to the Abbeville crowd, but don't get down there enough. My main thought on this class is get the nose of the cars down to .15 like can am & F-1; also these need 1" guide length like the other 2! Personally I have no problem with the 3" width, the difference can be made up with tire spacing. Building the high front end though is a pain! since I rarely get to race these cars, one does nothing but gather dust, the second participated in the Lucky 13 Thingie proxy, & the first one, after 3 rebuilds is now a no-bar drag car...
BTW, I think these 2 Chargers would fit the bill for bodies...
So where is the Nov 15 race going to be, I just might try to make it...

He moved it to the next weekend .. 22nd nov. First race @ 11:30 am. ish.
Ben those 68 chargers will be awesome..
The new version stockcar can be ran.
Same chassis ,120 grams min.
Same 50 thou.min. Front clearance.
Same min. 812 tires front and rear
New rules are..
Max. 3 1/4 width
Of course cut out fender wells ,,not going up into top of fender..Need to see a bottom door line.
May cut out windows ,Except front windshield..
No chopped top style bodies..only IRRA style bodies.
This is not Retro south rules.
IRRA ..Canam and F1 following stockcar, after lunch..

The 812 fronts not going thru the fender tops on all the ones I've mounted so far will do that. 65,66,68, chevelle . 67 Fairlane. 68 charger..may have to make a exception for you though..LOL.
You coming to Tenn.? This is not Retro south rules .

Since it seems like this thread has moved into a modified non-IRRA® class discussion, I'm going to relocate it to the Retro Racing forum.
