Nahh, Mill doesn't annoy me at all about your yellow shirt. Makes you stand out as you should.
Hope you guys can get bodies to add all your weight to and have a scale large enough to hold the whole body. BTW, is that with or without interior and pins?

Joe, the weights were with the painted interior.
Pins, Body Armor, with or without a spoiler? Amount of tape to hold in interior?

OK... I'll start. There are no rats being smelled here. The only thing these people smell is what Ron Hershman had for lunch.

The rule stands as is and will be enforced. If tech takes longer, well so be it.

If anyone thinks someone is being hunted or persecuted in any way, please state who and how.
You asked...
Who - The IRRA® BoD is on a witch hunt to put Ron out of business.
How - First motors now a failed attempt to eliminate O/S bodies.
That's my impression and I'm sticking to it.
And here... I thought you NY/NJ guys were streetwise.
Sam, you may need to get a pair of those special glasses if you're not seeing it.

Need? No....
Want ... yes.

Hey ya awl,
If I am trying to run a body out of spec all I have to do is change it to one in spec and I will not be chastised as a MOTOR TAMPERER will be. I do my best to stay within the spirit and written IRRA law but some manufacturing tolerances and interpretations do exist so a independent interpretation (tech inspector) is used and his view respected. I can remember a Retro Stocker with 2 motors not qualify as meeting IRRA specs for not meeting the motor powering rule. The rule was explained as written and the entrant agreed and withdrew the Retro Stock Car vehicle. No cheating just his personal view on a rule.

Gator Bob,
Sorry, wrong on both counts. Show me specifically where those two things were claimed in writing anywhere by any member of the BoD.
This post has nothing to do with motors and the last time I looked Fast Ones is still an approved refurbisher.
Secondly, look in your own backyard for a series banning O/S bodies. Raceway owners, NOT US, had their reasons. We have not banned anyone's bodies or delisted any from the approved list. They were legal when approved so it is expected that they will be legal when a racer buys them and uses them.
You and your wonderful pictures are only so cute so when you have FACTS you let me know. In the meantime you can perceive anything you want.
But when you make a statement you better have facts. And that comes from someone who is streetwise.

Ron just tossed the sealed PD out of his own org.?? What's up wit' dat'?
How does sticking to legal bodies put O/S out of business?

The fact is, RETRO has no thickness spec, and there is public knowledge of special thin O/S bodies being made for races run under that banner. The new rule covers the possibility of someone taping up the sides and trying to slip one of these through tech. A loophole has been closed, nothing more, nothing less.
If a body is made of the material thickness specified, it should meet the rules, unless they are just crappy bodies that the material has been stretched too thin. In which case the racer should be pissed at the manufacturer, not the IRRA® BoD.

With Body Armor, spoiler, tape to hold the interior, but no pins.
And if someone wished to use heavy tape, to tape his interior to his body, then that would be weight up high, and not beneficial to handling.

If body samples submitted have passed the approval process and the .007" or greater side rule, they must have been pulled from material thicker than .010".
It is the science of the manufacturing process that is not lining up with the rule.

Bob,

- How does sticking to legal bodies put O/S out of business?
- Don't know.
- Trying to find legal bodies might put racers 'out of business', but it's good for tape companies.
So lets all just get along.

Like everyone has said, if it's not the right item in the package, the consumer deserves to get the right one.
The only thing I'll add is the O/S bodies I have that are packaged don't have any indicator on the package what it's supposed to be.
John S.'s last post reminds me of something I spotted yesterday while sorting out my close-out boxes.
An 0/S 650 Charger Daytona, ordered way before the creation of RETRO and no body thickness rules.
One side is .002"-.003".
I don't have a way to measure the top surface, but I'm guessing it's pulled from a .010 sheet, which wasn't legal back then.
As I mentioned in my quote, there isn't any indication on the packaging what it's supposed to be, but Ron complained to us how didn't get to pull thin bodies like JK did.
Whether that was an extremely poorly pulled .015" body or one pulled from .010" by "mistake", you would think pride would of interceded before the bag was heat-sealed.

Hmmm... 'win on Sunday, sell on Monday' has a new spin.
I must say while painting myself into a corner ... Retro racers can be a snooty bunch but a very loyal group.
Think the secret acid dipped ones might sell for 'over sticker'?
