Hello there.

My name is Joey Emm and i race at The Race Place in NJ. Just want to put it out there that we are racing on Sunday nights at 6pm. A Lot of inspiration to get this going came from the posts here on the forums and it continues to help me and my co rule writers evolve and grow!

The slot car community in the area is small and getting smaller. I would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who used to race with us and got a bad taste and to anyone new looking for a place to play with their sweet creations! here are a few of my own in various stages with more to come cause you know just how addicting this really is...

My current ride

This is a car that is not legal in our current rules that i am working on for my better half.. she is a car NUT!  :D

Katies nova.JPG

ill be happy to answer any and all questions! and im more then happy to have a friendly conversation!

I have to get one of these too. Guess I will have to break out my Lola T70 to match this car.

Hardbody is a fun class.  There's a good group of racers at The Race Place and the rules allow for lots of different body styles.  They are not slow by any means and there is always something new with racers trying to figure out what works.  Its also our fastest growing class with around 10 to 12 entries weekly.

The green body looks like a Tamiya Lotus 30. They can usually be found on Ebay.

That's a Tamiya Lotus 30 in plastic.  Hard to come by these days... you might find one on E-bay occasionally.

Edit: here you go: http://www.ebay.com/...a slot car body

James,
You are correct. Below is an image of the complete slot car body shown on E-Bay.

I wish I lived a little closer...these things are pretty cool. I saw a Ford Mustang GTP kit on e-bay that I would probably use. Also saw a '53 Vette kit.

yes that is one of the 8 assorted Tamiya 1966 era slot car body kits that have been reissued and are commonly found online and on Ebay for under $20. I have a Lola T70 already built which influenced Max to built the above race winner. And with the open body rules we have raced anything from 1950s street hot rods, 50s pick up truck, 70s muscle cars, 60s stock cars, racing Porsches, and even Batman and Robin in the 60s tv Batmobile! not kidding!! Yes, this is one fun race class. As Revell once said- build...race...win!!

Our club exclusively races hard body cars with scale wheels. If you like the smaller cars the Lola T-70, Porsche Carrera 6, Lotus and McLaren Elva are good choices; however, the best choice would be the Porsche 917. It is by far the widest body and very low to boot. In the case of the 917 and other small cars, the front and rear tires must be cut down a bit. Here are a few of our cars. In addition, the Group C/GT1 cars make good choices because they are so low and wide. Two other examples of great cars are the Ferrari 458 and Ferrari Enzo. Check out the Electron Raceway classes on Slotblog for many more images. Below are a few images

Rich is right.  For inexpensive and readily available, the Revell Snap-Tite Ferrari Enzo is a killer body.
