I feel very fortunate to have met and raced with Dave. I will always remember his engaging personality and big smile.
Rest in peace, Sano Dave! An inspiration to so many.

We've lost a person filled with joy and positive energy. A true loss, indeed. I'm glad I got to spend even a little time with him when he came to SoCal to race.

May we always keep Sano Dave eternal, the Crown Prince of Camaradiere, by saying to ourselves ...
What would Sano Dave do? .. when things are tough or difficult or challenging.
The world was a better place as Sano Dave cultivated kindness & sharing, humor & laughter, and friendship.
And; talk about strength! I never saw anyone contending with the complexities of health problems he battled never ever and I mean ever .. uttering a word about them.
I am so thankful that starting slot racing 2 years ago I got to spend time with Sano Dave. My time with him pales in comparison to dozens of veteran racers; but you'd never know that if you saw him with me. He made everyone feel like a special Dude!
There is one thing none of us got to ever see no matter who you are; family or friend.
Sano Dave had his very own Superman cape - one of a kind; probably very close to his racing colors. But; we will never know what it looks like.
He was too humble to ever wear it.
Gods Speed; Sano Dave - You are Champion.

Got this up in time for the Great Lakes ISRA race on Saturday.
Big thanks to Ralph Thorne for donating his talents to help me honor a great racer and greater guy.

The latest.
I got a call last night from Dave's sister, Deb, yesterday.
She informed me that Dave's mom, Marge was going to sell her home in DesPlaines, where Dave grew up as a child, from when he was 9.
At 86, she is moving to Arizona to be near her boyfriend, Phil, who I met today.
So Deb wanted to make sure, I got the awesome airbrush painting, Steve Koepp did in his memory, back to her.
Aided by the $$$ generated, from Roger Schmitt selling off Dave's slot car collection, she'll be able to put up her own duplex ranch, without having to wait for her house to sell.
While Phil will be a 1/2 mile away, I'm guessing she wants her own place so she can have a room dedicated to her sewing.
For those who were not aware, she is a master seamstress (if that is the term?).
I used to get a kick out of Dave announcing he had to leave early, because he had to pick his mom up at work, since he was borrowing her car while his was in the shop.
She worked into her 80's, as a sewing instructor, IIRC, for JoAnn Fabrics.
Anyway, Deb mentioned she logs into Dave's FB page periodically and is really gratified by the messages, still left there, by the slot car community.
The home Dave grew up in his slot car formative years, 1963, until he became an adult...or was old enough to be considered an adult.
It's probably in this thread, but for those who might of missed it, Steve Koepp's artwork, in memory of Dave.

Since Dave has been gone, I haven't been to a historical race. With so many of my friends from both big
and little cars passing on or moving away, the wind just hasn't been behind my sails. Losing some of my
mobility hasn't helped, but there isn't the inspiration to do it like before. Both Dave and Ray Price will be
sorely missed for a long time.
