Interesting....looks the same to me.
Gary, I believe those are Jet guides sold in Cobra packaging. Check the lettering on those particular guides. I used Jet guides for a good many years & still have some new ones. I've found that while Cobra sold many different slot products, the didn't make much of anything they sold. They were big into subcontracting items (chassis) & rebadging others.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

No, you missed it. There was no #6. There was no #5 either.... only #1 - #4 on any Jet Flag guide and I have had hundreds through my hands. There are only 4 voids in the mold numbered one, two, three, and four. Tony says Number two has a straighter post... but I believe all are equal in the post area. It is the fat bulges at the bottom of the guide that are different....

Absolutely, Bill! They look identical to the Jet and there are no markings on them. Just thought I'd show those for what it's worth.....Gary, I believe those are Jet guides sold in Cobra packaging. I'm sure making and selling the parts were two different things for a lot of vendors of slot car stuff.

today we're resuming this highly successful series of cute cars displayed for your amusement and to aid spreading Thingie Culture (which here, on the Blog seems to be a bit forgotten).
We're beginning with a Bullet, body by Electric Dreams painted by Ray-noda in his famous Sunrise theme, with a beautiful chassis made by Steve "Arodyn" Okeefe a while ago:
Front wheels ar Kai's Buz-Co replica:
Motor is one of those lovely SVP tuned Mabuchi 16D:
And here laying down some foam on the track:
Next a Realm in spider version...
PS More on this chassis on Arodyn's site:

I do stand corrected.... # 6 was the guide to use when it came to the Starburst Graphite guides of the mid 80's until the tooling broke.
Associated/Jet guides..... Number 1 had the straightest post in the early 90's. PA Watson turned me on to that secret wile I was at Parma and I would dig through the box of guides ( 10's of thousands ) to find number 1's for him and I. Number 2's could have been better at one time, but over the years as the tooling got worse from normal production, I am sure some were better than others as well as who was actually running the mold machine along with cycle times. I used to see Jet guides differ from batch to batch in looks and material used.
I just went through the box of all of my pro and other cars to be restored some day and all the Jets guides are # 1's and the Starburst guides are # 6.
There was a difference that could be felt using the different numbers on the Jet guides. Number 1's were the straightest and didn't "pull" when tightening the nut on the guide.

please forgive me for intruding in your "History of Jet guide number 1-2-3-4-5-6" debate but there is a certain urgent need that must be satisfied immediately before the 2012 End of the World!
And there it is:
today we have the spyder version of Gene's Realm body, painted by Jairus l'Artiste with a foxy and very effective chassis also made by the J. himself:
Motor is a speed monster concocted by the in-famous Kaiser himself:
Assembled with a "Hemi Super X88" can, a Tradeship endbell (hi Bob, you ok?) and nothing less than a NCC20 arm dynamically re-balanced by the Hersh himself:
Ravishing, exquisite music coming from that motor while speeding around the track!
Next the Time Warp (hopefully no morally superior individuals will be around to see that one!).
E.
PS Could one of you experts re-define for me what's a NCC20 arm, please?
Thanks!

Well, I'm by no means an expert, and I'm sure someone here can re-define my interpretation of what the NCC means but here goes:
The tag on the motor arm means this arm was approved by the National Competition Committee for group 20 racing. The NCC set the rules of the time for certain racing.
In my small collection of vintage motors, I have a green colored B-can that has one of these arms in it.
Please, add to my not to clear version of what Edo is asking.
BTW, such a lovely car you got there!

Lovely lovely cars all masterfully executed! On the G20 arms, I have no idea what awg they are (I have some here that look to be around #28???) but the ones I have had have been quite fast arms. I used to run G20 arms in modern C cans in very light piano wire perimeter frames with wing bodies (sort of my version of a thingie I suppose) and they were very quick and reliable, ie ...lotsa fun!

we have here the Green Manalishi II.
A creation by John "Howmet tx" Dilworth, who besides making violas, cellos and violins makes also bodies and chassis:
Motor is a Russkit 25 rewound and perfected by John Havlicek, the new but already famous motor master, who appeared on this forum quite recently to quench our thirst for beautifully restored vintage motors:
Note the overhead cams:
And here the Green Manalishi all dressed up and ready to go:
Really super cute, innit?

PS hey John, what did you do to that speed monster? Man, you should hear it screaming!!!

On the motor...the "25" was probably one of the most difficult motors I've done. Actually...the motor itself is a kind of "thingee" that I wasn't sure was going to work until I hooked it up Anyway, you have yourself one heck of a lovely car there that I can pretty much guarantee won't be duplicated for a looooong time I bow to you and Sir John!

Hey Gary...how ya doing? The Green Manalishi is a song (early 70's) by Fleetwood Mac, and later Judas Priest...
