1mm is .0394".
Absolutely right, sir. My conversion app reads out in fractions. I could never deal with fractions.

When I was in grade school it seemed two full years of math concerned fractions. Multiplying them. Dividing them. Most common denominators. Least common denominators. I had a very hard time with all that. Then my dad taught me decimal fractions in 30 minutes and I never looked back...

I think you are right. But who buys just one chassis?

Have you or anybody had an opportunity to run one yet? How do they look as far as quality?
Thanks

I may be one of one then because I usually only buy 1 newly developed chassis just to try them out. If it proves to be better than the current chassis I'm using I buy more if not (like the one and only Kelly chassis I own) I don't buy anymore. With this chassis it appears I can get away with buying a 3pc plus a 1pc pan. If it proves better in either 2pc or 3pc configuration then my current chassis I'll invest in a 2pc center. Since I don't do a lot of racing these days I won't be buying lots like I use to.

Assuming there aren't any roaming Mossetti chassis thieves in your neighborhood, I think you're good.

Hi Everyone
Just to clear up some misinformed sources out there:
Of the first batch, 46% went to Europe - 54% to the US
Chassis is made from 410 SS - It's laser cut, formed, hardened then plated with Nickel - Aluminum Pan is also Nickel Plated
Material thickness for both the steel and the aluminum is .040" - It's not Metric
Feel free to fire off any questions you might have to me

Also, the 3 Piece version and the 2 Piece version of the Patriots are not interchangeable with their separate elements
The cross member of the One Piece pan interferes with the "up stops" located on the Center Section of the 3 Piece version - Hope that's clear

Ernie,
Thanks for clearing up all the foggy information about your new chassis. I will order a 3pc,a 2pc and an aluminum pan from my local raceway.
Since the aluminum pan is nickle plated, can it be soldered to?
And welcome to the Blog.

Thanks Sam.
Yes, you can solder to the Aluminum Pan - Same grade of plating you'd find on an Aluminum Wing Car chassis.
I recommend to wash off the area especially if you're using acid flux

Is this chassis going to be submitted to the USRA?

Mike, "stamping" had to occurred at some point since there are bends in the chassis. The "formed" part of the rule is redundant since "stamping" forms metal, even if all it does in blank the piece. Since I'm not involved in the USRA any longer I have no idea how "the spirit of the rules" pertains to this chassis and the rule that might be applied to it.

My knowledge of sheetmetal work;
Stamping is cutting the shape using a specially made die and a high tonnage press
Forming is bending or shaping
I will be checking our club rules whether we can run this chassis or not...

This new item may be the new best choice for use in a Outlaw 12 car (4" flexi chassis with pre-mount wing body). It seems to have an easy to solder to plating. 16D to Group 12. We'll be trying this class later this year. In the mid-'90s this class was popular on Saturdays with kids up to age 15.
Any flexi chassis
Any (Lexan style) body (including wing)
Any gears (no metal spurs)
Any motor up to a Superwasp/Hornet.
