My two older brothers both play in their own cover bands. My eldest (he'll be 49 in September) is lead singer and guitarist -- Jersey Shore cover band called Moondoggie. He's a real ham and fun to watch. They are pretty solid - AC/DC, The Eagles, Skynard, the list goes on and on. They do requests when they know it (and they know a bunch) and they really got me one night doing Peter Gabriel "In your eye's" -- real tearjerker for me.
The middle div will be 46 in October and plays Bass and backup vocals. He fills in for Moondoggie bass once in a while and from 2001-2006 they were in a cover band together that was just awesome. He has a lot of projects he's involved with and for the past two or so years has been in an original band that played The Stone Pony and the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Last summer they opened for Marky Ramone with Andrew WK at the Pony and just this past Monday they opened for The Smithereens at the Wonder Bar. I didn't attend sadly and it was by far his best show yet. Stupid summer cold! They've also opened for Dramarama before. Interesting punkish street rock they play, I wish I had some links I could leave you....
As for me, I am the consummate singer in the shower and one of their biggest fans. They are beating me up to play drums or keyboard but I'm lazy and don't like to practice. Took two years of piano in middle school but got bored fast. I read an interesting article on the internetz that said something about how there's a semi-generation of kids born 1978-1981 that are a mix of GenXers and Millennials. I dunno about all that, but it would be an interesting topic to discuss over a six pack.
Anyway, I had coffee tonight so I'm rambling. Great thread!
