Since Phil posted his recent music discoveries in this forum, I thought I would try the same. And rather than hijacking his thread, I started my own.

I enjoy a good cover band. This is one I discovered on another forum in a thread about cover bands.

I always liked CS&N's harmonies, and these guys do a pretty good job.

EXCELLENT! MAN, those harmonies are sweet! I have mixed feelings about watching those videos. On the one hand, it is SO GOOD to hear such good covers; I doubt I'll ever get to hear CSN perform them. On the other hand, seeing those songs performed so well just reminds me how inadequate my own efforts are.  LOL   Thanks, Mike.... GREAT way to start a Friday.

The Fab Four are the best Beatles cover band. And nice guys, too. The one that "is" George is fantastic.

I've seen the Fab Four on PBS, and have a DVD of the show. They are VERY good!

Here's an interesting take on a classic Who song:

On The Border cover the Eagles. They are great, saw them on an AXIS tv show and last year they played the free show at the Street Rod Nationals.

While not technically a band, these ladies ARE performing someone else's music. And, I recognize most of it!

Not sure if you would call this a cover band or not.

I love Genesis, especially the Gabriel era.

This is as close as you can get to the real thing.

My two older brothers both play in their own cover bands.  My eldest (he'll be 49 in September) is lead singer and guitarist -- Jersey Shore cover band called Moondoggie.  He's a real ham and fun to watch.  They are pretty solid - AC/DC, The Eagles, Skynard, the list goes on and on.  They do requests when they know it (and they know a bunch) and they really got me one night doing Peter Gabriel "In your eye's" -- real tearjerker for me.

The middle div will be 46 in October and plays Bass and backup vocals.  He fills in for Moondoggie bass once in a while and from 2001-2006 they were in a cover band together that was just awesome.  He has a lot of projects he's involved with and for the past two or so years has been in an original band that played The Stone Pony and the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park.  Last summer they opened for Marky Ramone with Andrew WK at the Pony and just this past Monday they opened for The Smithereens at the Wonder Bar.  I didn't attend sadly and it was by far his best show yet.  Stupid summer cold!  :(  They've also opened for Dramarama before.  Interesting punkish street rock they play, I wish I had some links I could leave you....

As for me, I am the consummate singer in the shower and one of their biggest fans.  They are beating me up to play drums or keyboard but I'm lazy and don't like to practice.  Took two years of piano in middle school but got bored fast.  I read an interesting article on the internetz that said something about how there's a semi-generation of kids born 1978-1981 that are a mix of GenXers and Millennials.  I dunno about all that, but it would be an interesting topic to discuss over a six pack.

Anyway, I had coffee tonight so I'm rambling.  Great thread!

Mike

These guys are definitely NOT a cover band! Extremely deriviative, but they're young, and have room to grow.

I always liked CS&N's harmonies...

Me too. And they got even better with Neil Young. The acappella break in the middle of Carry On gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

I enjoyed the videos! Thanks for posting them.

Again, I wouldn't label these guys a cover band, but here they do a creditable job on a classic Who song:

Alan, a cover band is a band that performs music that was popularized by another artist. In other words, they are "covering" someone else's material. Does that help?

I hear you Mike. Been collecting records since the 70's with a 1,000 + collection and watch more U Tube than tv.
How about David Lee Roth being a cover band to this song?
