I maintain a certain sympathy for anyone who would even attempt to publish a slot car magazine in the US, but I lost interest in this a long, long time ago.

Is there going to be an issue #7?
Yes there is.
And its another good one.
Especially cool for me, because it gives me a build for one of my projects to build for a mate.
The Datsun 510 in your lingo, and known as the Datsun 1600 down under.
Hope there will be a number 8.
Thanks Gregg.

I was puzzled when issue # 7 recently appeared in my mailbox - it was not until I saw this thread that I remembered that I had, in the distant and forgotten past, entered a subscription!

Just a reminder Gregg Hutchings has ripped us off for subscriptions to his magazine.. Me the fool even sent him $100 for the life subscription in hopes of helping him. But don't feel too bad, the guys who signed up for Model Car Magazine have the same issue.

Magazine subscriptions have sputtered for years, partly due to the digital age. Not defending anyone here but this idea was doomed for failure. After the initial revenues came in, product still had to go out with few new subscriptions coming in. Thankfully, the loss was minimal for most subscribers.

Well, issue 8 has been done for a year now. Gregg and I talked and he has every intention of publishing it. The hold up is the post office and various forms that have to be submitted to reduce the postal price.
At least that is what I think he said.

Jairus.. It's always something with this guy. I'm sorry you have time invested as others probably have also for which you folks have not been paid. That's how scam artist work. The model car mag subscribers are telling the same story in regards to their subscription. This guy don't even have the balls to stand up and let everyone know whats going on.. If we get #8, great maybe a year or so from now we'll get #9.. Thanks to you and the others for their contribution.

Been several years. Just curious whether this was officially ended as a magazine or is there still some notion that publication may resume at some point in the future? I'm going to guess not. So no need to vent frustrations. I am one of those guys that needs to have a definitive word before I close the book on something. I like the magazine. I planned to stock copies at my track. If there is any notion of a return then I have no complaints about the past and hope it emerges in the future. The one's I saw were well done.

Michael. if you have to have a concrete answer to your question, I suggest you send a PM to Jairus asking him rather than asking on a public BBS. He was very instrumental in getting the few issues published that were sent out.

Issue #8 was the last published. I had quite a few articles laid out for issue #9 but it never saw the press.
Model Cars Magazine is still being printed by the same publisher. But the readership numbers are 10 to 1 compared to SCM. Without numbers, you can't sell adds. We tried...
I have asked Gregg if we could put an article for slots in MCM and he wasn't that interested even when I told him that the old mags like Car Modeler, Modeler Car Science among others featured both venues in the pages.
Oh well....
