As a followup to the security seal question above: false purchase orders have been made with legitimate info but with separate shipping addresses and billing info. I don't know if it has happened in the slot car industry but it has elsewhere. The only trouble with this method is that it leaves a paper trail...

Counterfeit Pro Slot motor seals

So which accusation is 100% correct?
Time to lock this can of garbage worms.

Just to clear up the misconception, those endbells are not glued on. That may have been the original intent but the last four I took apart were just screwed on and the can tabs were bent. Not hard at all to separate the two.
True, $18 to refurb a $13 motor may not be worth it. It's all about going after the elusive top 1% motor without spending gads of money. If you got a really good motor, why not get it refurbed? It could improve, or not.
I heard a new line that I believe is applicable to this situation.

The OP started this thread to warn tech inspectors of this situation. Whether it is a major event or just weekly racing, look out for these. If you find one, call the cheater out on it. Make it known to everyone racing who the cheater is and what you found.. Then ban him for life from ever racing with you guys again. Then post what has happened on your Facebook page. Name names.
And the excuse that it is a borrowed motor/car or whatever lame story they come up with... BANNED! The racer is responsible for the equipment he races.

Any "approved tamperer" should also have "approved tape."
Bill, I tried to point this out in the beginning of this thread when the accusation was made that a certain motor refurbisher might be behind this.
Expect to get a "Give it a rest, Bill" from James Merriman.

So where is this Pro Slot security tape being applied to the motors? In China by the manufacturer or in the US in Michigan?
Has anybody asked Dan Debella if there has been a security tape material change at wherever it's being applied?

Is anyone really surprised by the information contained in the OP?
Now... is it just one enterprising (if misguided) egomaniac or, perhaps, another organized slotcrime?

As Rick pointed out, what you are referring to were the old foil seals which were chrome/silver and shown in this THREAD.
Or possibly as Bill F mentions below, Parma Deathstar foil seals.
Regardless, your post is confusing and pointless to this thread.

There was, at one time awhile back, a picture of a certain person's work space that showed several strips of security tape stuck to the side of a wall. I don't remember the exact quotation but it was similar to "not so hard to remove in one piece". Maybe someone more familiar with this site than me can remember that photo.
Fred, I think I recall the photo you're mentioning. IIRC those were Parma Deathstar tapes stuck on the edge of a refridgerator door. I don't know where that photo is, but it may have come up in one of the threads discussing Ken O's California operation. Sam, where is it?

BTW, the cheap motors are 1/2 to 1/4 the price of an arm. A little fiddlin' with the brush hoods or your own special break-in method and go test them out. Race the good ones and toss the bad into a box where you store your old arms...
