Eddie,
How much does it weigh? Is the center piece removable or permanent? Does it move?
Looks like an interesting build. Good work on it!

Thanks Jim
As you see it ready to race with body and tires it was 109 when it won at CMS week before last.
With no lead I think it is about 102 or 3.
The center pan is permanent and it is a shaker pan so it moves.

This one is a Christmas present I built for Richard Sylvester, proprietor of The Doghouse racing club. He's been griping to me about not having a good retro F1 --- especially one that he felt could challenge mine!
The rails are all .055, including the fork. The brass pans and main nosepiece are .063.
My only regret is that I painstakingly attached the front axle before sticking the whole thing in the tumbler. After the axle was attached, The length of the axle exceeded the mouth of my barrel, so, I cleaned it up and scrubbed it with some steel wool to give it a nice shine.
Now, I'm just looking forward to a little track-tuning with him.
Cheers, and Merry Christmas.

Eddie, your chassis looks great! The front uprights caught my attention. Are you using 3/32 bearings with a drill blank front axle?
Posted 06 January 2018 - 12:02 PM
Yes Bill. I have built a few but this is the first one that I cut out the center of the tube.

Not that I need another Can-Am car, I decided to build something a little different. Basically, this chassis is a 2 piece chassis with the side pans tied together. The main rails are .039" (7 each side) and the pans are made of .055 wire. RGEO motor bracket. The chassis with the front axle weighed in at 47 grams, while the RTR car is 103 grams.
