This is the "Tool"

Just got mine today! :)

Along with 4-40 and 2-56 tap & drill sets, handle for tap sets, a wheel balancer, a guide threader, 4 axles, 2 TSRD301's, a Hawk 7, some lead wire & clips, some solder and some 2mm x 4 screws. :D

This just doesn't happen very often! It was half-planned and half spontaneous. I had gained the CFO's approval for funding some slot car tools/parts(planned part) but I went crazy and got about twice as much as originally planned(spontaneous part). Parts always have taken precedent over tools in the appropriations department...but I NEEDED these tools! REALLY! I'd put off getting them for a long time now; something inside me said I was due. So I did it! And the wife has allowed me to stay anyway!

And we're cooking steaks out this evening to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday! And actually I get to just sit around this time and don't have to cook! And there's an F-1 race to watch at 4am here in Texas! It's in the 60's and the sky is clear and blue and the sun is shining brightly!

Anyone's day top THAT?! :D

It will get a test if I can get it all together in time BUT I know do know where it is going to be tested for sure if it doesn't make the Fall Brawl. Nice job Ray!

New Project..........Lee Verdich won this Chassis at the "Sano" Dave Raffle last year. I am going to modify it from a Regular Torsion design to a "Z Rail" of sorts. Mike Swiss showed me this idea. Usually a Z Rail car has one end 3/4" wide and the other end 1" wide. This one will be 1" on both. I modified one of my Chassis's for John Austin and it is now his fastest most drivable car. This post is the "Before" view.

In this view, one side has been modified. I guess it is kind of like a "W" Railer

Hi Ray,
Would you be as so kind to post a top view picture of this chassis??

I seen your first Z-Railer and just want to have another picture to remind me of the build.

Thank You! :)

Brian, the only thing I changed on the top side is the addition of .055 stops under the rear pin tubes. It gives the chassis some flex, but not as much as other versions.

My Manta Ray car is so good, I was "saving" it for a special race! Can't do that now. It is easily .1 faster and far more stable on all lanes than any car I have ever driven.Back to concentrating on running all 8 heats strong!

Been a while since I've been in a build mode but now that I am I thought I'd share the latest builds that are going to Japan.

Chassis #110 and #112 are both 4.5" wheelbase but not even close in design.

#110 is a simple floppy pan Side Winder Warmack kit and is a clone of a car I built myself last year. This car will be very easy to drive and extremely forgiving.

4.5 nascar 3.jpg

4.5 nascar 5.jpg

#112 is also a floppy pan build however this on is an Angle Winder with a short guide lead.

4.5 nascar 1.jpg

4.5 nascar 2.jpg

So you all can see a comparison here is a side by side shot. Quite a bit of difference but both should work well.

In noticing one of the earlier posts here, a builder had made a wire loop for a front axle holder. Many years ago, when we all ran straight front axles, Parma came out, albeit briefly, with just such a thing--- a machine punched (I saw the thing) .063" wire bender (and cut-off) to make attaching the front axle easier. I want to say it was for an axle tube for 3/32" axle but I'm not sure of the height. Considering 'most' everyone solders to the top of the frame, as opposed to setting flush---I wonder if any of those things are still setting around in a box at Parma.
