What are the thick looking motor brackets...they look kind of machined, like the one in post 1118? Sorry i don't know how to copy that picture here....duh.

They are Professor Motor which is a copy of the original BWA bracket.

Or possibly an original BWA.

So the last f1 i built wasn't all that great. I tore it apart, cut new side pans, and added a center pan There are a total of 14 rails of .032. Pin tubes still need to be added... i dont have any tubing laying around.

Great looking build Preston. Soldering multiple rails of .032 can be tricky but yours came out great.

A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Between baseball, golf, weight lifting, working on cars, and building slot cars my hands are so rough and calloused that it barely bothers me anymore. Now when something hot manages to burn through my pants, and starts burning my legs, ow! Had that happen to me last week and wow that sucked!

Uh-uh. No car to get over there in until late this week, remember? Doc only released me to drive yesterday, and now I gotta send the Repo Man after my daughter...besides, saving up my money for Fall Brawl. Pro'ly practice at SZ on Thurs.

It'll get more regular for me once I'm back at work, most likely early November.

This was a fun one, as it is my first non-kit build.
The bracket is made by Duffy... had it laying around so it might as well get used!

Looking good. It is clear you love to build, and I am sure this is the first of many. I wouldn't be surprised if you never built from a kit again! :clapping:

What thickness are the pans? Chassis weight?

This chassis was my first ever "Non-Kit" Build. It is tripod design. I cleaned the chassis the old fashioned way using Comet and a wire brush.

The chassis has 0.062" rails, 3.875" wheelbase, and 0.875" Guide Lead. It weighs in at 51.7 grams.

Eric,
Absolutely terrific job.

And no offense to the tumblin' guys out there, I prefer the brushed look.

And on that chassis, the brushed steel guide contrasting against the brushed brass nose pc. looks great.
