This is the Z rail as tested at Raceway 81 , as built it was to light for a flat track with a Camaro body, plus it needed to be 120g for the rules. . As I added the lead it began to handle better and better running through the esses really quick with a good change of direction, total lead added was around 10 grams. Big problem was it would not take the entry to the banking without lifting. I believe that Z rails allow to much longitudinal flex, the motor is trying to climb up the gear and the flex is allowing it to move to much, the limits I had fitted prevent the chassis flexing downwards but allow freedom in the upward direction. I think this movement makes the chassis slightly unstable in fast corners, whilst allowing good change of direction in tighter corners. I have made heavier pans and fitted the rear stops in tight fitting tube which limits the upward flex but still allows the rails to rotate in the tubes like a torsion bar, not sure if it is still a Z rail but it still has a lot more flex than my standard chassis. I will be testing on Thursday night to see if it works.

I like the stagger of the rails going into the nose pc.

Chuck Gambo, is one of Retro's racing scratchiest, scratchbuilders.
Along with cutting, drilling and bending his own motor bracket, cutting and coining his own nose pc., he even turned his own BB fronts.
Pictured is a 1 x 5 MM railed bipod, he just finished, and brought by tonight to test on the Flat track.
