Sano build, sir.
After a little testing I now solder a small bit between the tuning fork rails in the sweet spot. But I like that adjuster idea how did you make it. I also found that moving the location of the front tubes can make the chassis much better.

Just put ball bearings in, install with red Loctite and you will have no problems and not need the overkill bracing found on so many IRRA chassis... The Retro East Enduro, where the chassis did not use any additional tube bracing , ran just ball bearings with aluminum axle spacers, and you have less weight up high, and in the last five years of Retro on the West Coast, I have yet to see blown out bearings...
Beautiful build, next time try just the ball bearings into the bracket, no need for tubes... Try it, you'll like it.

Yes, the brass piece your talking about does slide back and forth. I don't know if adjusting it will make a noticeable difference or not but thought it might be worth a try.
I have an idea on how to make this piece but please fill us in on how you made your adjuster.
On a side note, my build had a great deal of bite prior to installing a similar type of adjustment to the car. Once it was in place the car really smoothed out quite nicely and made it very forgiving. I would recommend if anyone builds a tuning fork car to incorporate some form of adjustment to control the amount of flex in the fork.

In the mid to late '80s, Gary Gerding, and I'm sure others, made lead wire holders similar to that.
Guys probably still do, although it fell out of favor when Koford started selling earring backs, back in 1989, inspired by one of our employees, who came up with the idea.

I'm 93% sure Raisin just ovaled a piece of brass tubing, put two piecss of piano wire inside, and hit it again with something like a flat-bladed screwdriver.

I thought doing lead wire holders that way back in the 80's was my idea!...LOL, but actually the adjuster on the tuning fork is just 2 pieces of tubing soldered together and slightly crushed to offer some resistance sliding against the wire.

Looks like it should work pretty well. Have never tried .039 rails because I was thinking they might not offer enough stifness from front to back. Your solution of adding the rail on top should take take care of that though. Ive got one of those kits and trying to decide how I want to build it.

Raisin- the car was fairly soft front to back before adding the extra top rail. It's something I remember GVP did on a car built out of .032. You could tune the front to rear flex with thinner or thicker wire...

Looks like a jet Craig. Careful using those steel guide tongues on Retro Pro in testing they do bend.
I am changing mine. Use a Slick 7.

John,
Maybe you should try an FSF "Cleeted" guide tongue

I think they are EDM 1095 so if they bend it will do more damage than that! This should.... when I get the pans on allow me to run at about 82grams I hope. That is about 10gr. lighter than the car I ran last time.....

Cap,
Looks good, but use 2mm K&S square tubing and .039 Wire for the pan hinges it is a bit stronger then .032. makes the hinges semi-Howie proof.
