Screwed is not being able to prepare properly. These motors require a lot more time to properly break-in. Locals have a distinct track time advantage as it is and as it is at most races. This limits it even more and most are from out of town. Those who brought their kids or are bringing their kids to race are really screwed. Those with other duties on race day the same thing. There a more than the A listers griping and have been.

Mike,
So the only people that can buy motors Thurs. are Coupe Pro? That's the only way to equalize the 1.5 hour inconsistency I mentioned in post #19.

If that is indeed the case then I think it's fair.

Since we all knew we wouldn't have the time to slow break it in on the track we expected the time to be able to break them in on the bench. But with the schedule being like this we do not get that luxury. We could break them in in water but the back of the motor packaging says not to. So a long dry break-in is best to most of us looking at the R4. The brushes take forever to seat but when they do the motor has a lower failure rate.
This is why we are asking for this. Not to just find a fast one but also to make sure our investment and time can both be maximized. A longer time with the motors would greatly help in that aspect. Plus I'm sure everyone wants to go racing with a motor they have watched on a power supply and have more faith in that it just ran for x amount of hours so it should be good to go for racing.

Anyone who made your event a priority like yearly taking off work, hotels, gas, food, etc., etc., etc., is being screwed out of time and money they didn't need to invest because since were catering to the casul racer i may as well be a casual racer myself and show up on raceday.

if anyone in Group 2 is allowed to buy their motors on Thurs. they will have an additional 1.5 hours over the people in Group 1 to prep their motors.
Simple fix is to state, "If you buy your motors on Thurs. you will be in Group 1."

The itinerary suggests that Coupe class is not in Group 1 or 2, as is Can-Am and F1. Coupe practice is divided by FK class or Pro.
Mike confirmed that FK class gets motors at 6:30 to 8 on Thursday and again at 8:00 Friday for the 9:30 practice.

The casual racer is the one screwed with trying to have to break-in motors when they are not used to this at all. As Tony P says, Think Geek.
Oh well.

So Gil...
You read it like I did?
FK Coupe (if they buy their motors Thurs.) gets 3 hours to prep their motors before their practice time Fri. at 9:30.
Coupe Pro (if they buy their motors Thurs.) gets 1.5 hrs. to prep their motors before their practice time Fri. at 8:00.
What if a Coupe Pro guy shows up Fri. morning; does he get no time to prep his motors? LOL.

I'm seeing it the same way as you, Fox.
Get motor Thursday at 6:30 and turn in at 8. Get car and track power on at 8 AM Friday, 9:30 tech. That's 1 hour 30 min to prep motor before track power gets turned on for practice of Coupe Pro. No prep and 1.5 hours combined prep and track time if a Coupe Pro driver shows up on Friday morning.
Coupe FK gets 1.5 hours Thursday and 1.5 hours Friday before we see the track for another 1.5 hours of practice.

Yes, I see it that way. Since FK guys are competing against Pro guys i guess the 1.5 extra time for the FK guys is a wash??? Don't know what the Friday Pro guys will do. I think Mike did mention that a buddy could pick up your motors on Thursday if a driver couldn't make it.
I'm thinking I may have to impound all my Coupe cars with the motors installed so as to have time on Saturday.

In hindsight it sure would have been simpler to just specify "only 7R motors can be used at this race."
Wouldn't that admit there's a difference in the motors??? We can't have that!
