You may want to put a door with a lock on it.

Knock on wood, but I've been pleasantly surprised there hasn't been any "Let's turn up the power on our own, hijinks".

Anyway, the ToP has worked out great.

Yesterday, it really helped manipulate the races, so this group of regulars, Gateway Special Recreation Association, all got to win a lot of races.

And with a last minute booking earlier today, for a Monday night scouting party, I broke my record for parties in one month, with 15.

Probably nothing like a place like Elmsford did, in their heydey, but you have to do 15, before you can 20, and 20 before you can do 25.

And with the exciting the races, the dads and moms are witnessing, when picking up their kids from birthday parties, I'm getting a lot more interest with both scouting groups, and adult social get-togethers, like the empty nesters from nearby Hinsdale, that I've already booked 2 parties for.

I really like what you have done with the special rec kids. This is what the public needs to see.

Mike, have you seen any carry overs from parties to racers?I know it happens because way back when, its how I was introduced to the sport along with another good racer/friend of mine.

Not to derail a great thread but the grumps complaining about the kids used to really tick me off. It's amazing how quickly people forget that they were in fact a kid once. Anyway, love the idea and hopefully more follow suit because not only are the new party goers having more fun, it also seems to solve one of the big problems the old grumps have with the kids and that is when they run to fix a deslotted car.Although I think the key is matching the power to the ages/skill like you are doing. It would be too tempting to some to make it too easy and therefore boring to the future racers. But as the smiles show in the pictures this doesnt seem to be a problem with you ;-)

As long as I have known Mike, he has always tried to show the public the good side of slot racing, and that we

are not a bunch of retards who can't face the real world. Many years ago I was a member of a model railroad club.

A bunch of us guys would go nightclubbing after the club meetings, and so we all had girlfriends. The wife of one

of the older members asked why we never brought our ladies down to the club. I thought to myself, "Oh yeah. I'm

going to bring a girl to a place with a bunch of men playing with little toy trains and introduce them 'These are my

friends'." I'd never see her again.

I've grown up since then.

Alright I'm convinced. .  Gonna check to see if I can easily turn my Bulldog down first, then I'll pull out the credit card if I can't.

My adjustable power really came in handy for this segment filmed in August and shown 2 (or 3?) times this past Friday on local ABC.
